So tonight, and rather this week, I am taking it a bit slower as tonight, this post actually, marks that I have posted for 900 nights in a row.
So being my 900th nightly-post I wanted to take some time to reflect on what these 900 nights, or, nearly 115 adventures that I have created. So tonight I wanted to reflect on the very first adventure I posted here, more than 900 nights ago but the ones that started off my goal to create D&D, well RPG, adventures weekly.
Dare to trespass into the woods…
Back in my first, well half year, I was working on the concept of having several (normally three) different plot hooks, different sets of NPS, twists, places and creatures. The concept was quite simple, pick one Plot, a core NPC (or several), a plot twist, a place and some creatures in any combination and create an adventure.
It worked, but it wasn’t quite right however it did produce The light of Mant Forest – which was a fun adventure concept that was inspired by some local forests in Victoria – Australia. Even the creature, the carnivorous black slug is a real animal in the forests (who know that Australia had such terrifying slugs… only in Australia I guess!)
But for me the process of creating an adventure sheet that had so many plots, NPCs, hooks, places and encounters enabled me to do at the end of each week what I am doing this week. Reflect, store and look at the process that I believe makes me such a good Dungeon and Game Master. By documenting my thought process, looking for ways to start the adventure and to expand upon it, I was able to better improve my own internal process. This then evolved into what I do now, brainstorm multiple ways that I can run the adventure.
Looking back these 900 nights since I committed myself to blogging every night I have had a few nights where I have just been that tired that I felt like I couldn’t get on. But the motivation to get to the next 100 nights pushed me to get online and do a write up for the blog.
And so starting off a week of looking back, maybe some cheeky catch ups, I wanted to thank you all for joining me for these many years and 900 nights in a row. I also hope you’ll join me for the next 900 nights in a row but let’s just not forget to join me for this week at least as we continue to take each day one adventure at a time,
The Brazen Wolfe
