The Isem Strike Force

The mercenaries, and soldiers, of the Isem kingdom are well informed about the habits, movements and even members of the Musca forces. However they weren’t expecting a group of well trained adventurers to also be present which changes their plans considerably.

So let’s sit down, grab a coffee as we roll into tonight’s encounter!

Isem Strike Force

444FrIsStFo

The humble Isem thug is a sturdy combatant with an eye for causing chaos. Equipped with flame charges, a variant of alchemist fire, these arsonist-warriors fight with fire and those who leave the fight are rarely unharmed. These are the foot soldiers of the Isem strike force who has come to disrupt the empire of Musca with their plans but, they are not hardened veterans nor are they the ones calling the shots.

When the foot soldiers are unable to get the job done, or are simply following orders, the Isem White Guard will step into the foray and they pack a meaty punch.

The Isem White Guard are named for the ash and soot that they leave behind them. Gifted a Flame Forged Cinder Shard, a long sword of a sort, these warriors fight brutally, efficiently and rarely do they have any prisoners to take alive. Their blades seem to drip with the same alchemical components that the Flame Charge is made from, yet it doesn’t expire. These blades burn white hot and leave just white ash in their wake.

Thanks for joining me tonight as two slight-variant stat blocks from well used opponents. Working as a group and a well oiled military machine a group of these warriors would pose a substantial threat for any party going against them. While that’s been said don’t forget that we still have two more nights this week so make sure to come back over the weekend. And lastly, as always, don’t forget to roll with advantage,

Magnifico’s Stone Golem

The creatures simply known as Magnfico’s Stone Golems are something desired by many and, sadly, few are able to actually defeat them. Imbued with the same magical strength of a normal stone golem these smaller variants are just as lethal – but more numerous.

So let’s sit down, grab a coffee as we roll into tonight’s encounter!

Magnifico’s Stone Golem

443FrMaStGo

The small creatures are about the size of a gnome, perhaps two and a half feet in height, weighing about the same as a adult dwarf and about as strong and robust as one as well. Armed with magical attacks, resistance to magical effects and immune to damage not made with a magical weapon it renders most armies null and void. However for those few in possession of an enchanted blade these things are little more threat than an average orc.

However against an army of ordinary soldiers these creatures are more than a match and the casualties of the creatures made from flesh and blood would be in the dozens if not hundreds. They will attempt to magically slow a target where possible adding to the potency of their combat prowess.

Thanks for joining me tonight as we look at a small stone golem. While weaker than several other creatures of its CR it will pose a challenge for several parties, but not all. Don’t forget that more content is on the way tomorrow and also don’t forget to keep an eye out for the Zine when it comes out this weekend. And lastly, as always, don’t forget to roll with advantage,

Talk’arneil

This week a young ambitious blue dragon arrives to take control over the Fester Plains through blood and lightning. Talk’arneil having also been born in the desert has a way with the sands which is something his parents gifted him.

So let’s sit down, grab a coffee as we roll into tonight’s encounter!

Talk’arneil

442FrTa

Talk’arneil will attack during the sandstorms that he summons and always summons one to go through the chasms, using the rocks to funnel the sand towards his prey. He is brutal and cunning, to a degree, but his ambitious and pride will be his downfall.

Talk’arneil – created in Tetra-cube

Sandstorms

Sandstorms aren’t a uncommon occurrence when exploring the desert. When a character is exposed to one and does not seek shelter before the sandstorm hits they are subject to its ferocity.

Characters who are within areas unprotected from the storm suffer disadvantage on all ranged weapon attacks and suffer disadvantage on all checks that rely on sight, smell, sound or touch. Gas and vapours are immediately dispersed and sources of unprotected flames such as torches, candles, fires are extinguished. Protected flames such as lanterns, will have a reduced range and have a 50% chance of being blown out if exposed to the sandstorm for longer than a minute.

Each foot of movement is treated as moving through difficult terrain, however it will further-stack with difficult terrain making traversing a shifting sand dune in the middle of a sandstorm an act of folly. Each creature who is not equipped to be out in a sandstorm (non-suitable equipment) must make a DC14 constitution saving throw or become blinded as the sand damages their eyes. They also suffer 1d6 slashing damage per hour, at the start of the hour, for when they are exposed.

Thanks for joining me tonight as we look at variant blue dragon tonight. Talk’arneil is a strong and smart creature and despite being CR9, when fighting in these lands he will be a much stronger contestant. Don’t forget that more content is on the way tomorrow and also don’t forget to keep an eye out for the Zine when it comes out this weekend. And, as always, don’t forget to roll with advantage,

Velsharoon Spectre

This week we have an interesting one where a deity of necromancy created a spectre in their image, the Velsharoon Spectre. As the clash of deities, gods, is the focus of this week it shouldn’t come to anyone surprise that this creature is target built to be as much as a problem to everyone involved – especially those that can cast spells or commune with a deity.

So let’s sit down, grab a coffee as we roll into tonight’s encounter!

Velsharoon Spectre

441FrVeSp

The Velsharoon Spectre is commonly seen dressed in mottled purple robes, is faceless but sees without eyes and has a single, thin silver circlet around its head. However when this undead creature is gathered in large numbers they has the ability to sever the connection between deities and their worshippers.

Individually however these creatures train the sound around them, dampening before completely deafening anyone who dares to remain to close to them. That is if they can avoid it. Fast, vicious and drawn to creatures with the ability to invoke magic these creatures are a force to be reckoned with as they are more deadly to spell casters – taking their second most precious resource, their spell slots. The only thing more precious to casters, and well, generally all adventurers is their hit points.

The Enthralled Menace

The enthralled menace this week is the enthralled berbalang, a horrid creature that creeps across the astral plane looking for secrets for its masters. Its masters find themselves having a useful tool in their arsenal as the berbalang is highly intelligent, malicious and a cunning fighter.

So let’s sit down, grab a coffee as we roll into tonight’s encounter!

The Enthralled Menace

440FrEnMe

The enthralled berbalang will hide amongst what ever it can and will use its spectral duplicate form to watch and gather information before making attacks. However there is always a master that waits and controls these creatures to their fullest so they will fight in more intelligent ways using their cunning and knowledge to their fullest.

The Dark Priest

The dark priest has been imbued by magic and power by its deity in order to fulfill the great task that has been set for it. In this case the breaking of a seal and the release of an evil upon the lands. However the price is rarely worth the power.

So let’s sit down, grab a coffee as we roll into tonight’s encounter!

The Dark Priest

The path of the moving trees was difficult to follow, but not impossible despite the forest itself seemed reluctant to let the parties thought. However the source of animation seemed to have moved on, or simply had its eye cast on another location.

Garet had handed them a scroll with exceedingly poor handwriting indicating that there was rumoured to be a shrine deeper in the forest to one of the “winged ones” that he had mentioned before. The party now followed the directions and a rough map to where they believed this shrine was located and they believed that they were on the right path.

As they pushed further into the forest as the sun fully disappeared and the moon pushed forward, its radiant glow illuminating the path for them. Soon the sound of a lone voice chanting and branches cracking came from head and a red glow appeared between trees contrasting against the white of the full moon. They could see it now, a large winged creature atop a tall statue bathed in red light.

From their position they could see four bound human figures wrapped in cloth at the base of a small ziggurat and a man chanted at the base of statue. Green eyes glowed on the statue as it stared at a moving bundle of cloth that called out for help, Synthia, as energy pulsated around the area turning the trees half red and half blue as the moon and unholy magic battled to claim the area.

The dark priest is a dangerous foe able to punish those to try to interrupt its duty with powerful magical backlash. Many of its spells require no concentration just a thought to summon into existence before it can continue to focus on the task at hand, summoning demons.

The Dark Priest – created in Tetra-cube

However the dark priest is not alone and its power over the forest shrine has given it some measurable power over the trees themselves. Those foolish enough to believe that the dark priest works alone will find branches slamming into their back before they know it, the animated trees unable to be distinguished from other trees in the forest.

Thanks for joining me tonight as we unravel a fun little encounter. I know that night time encounters are perhaps a little over-done but I just enjoy how they look and how well light can clash during the night. Manticores Galore

This week we have manticores galore with Samsone being a juvenile manticore and the larger creature, you guessed it, being a adult one. But something much more than just a normal adult one as you’ll see shortly.

So let’s sit down, grab a coffee as we roll into tonight’s encounter!

Manticores Galore

438FrMaGa

The juvenile manticore known as Samsone isn’t much of a fighter. Big enough to not be identified as anything other than a young manticore but not big enough for people to want to ride it. When threatened it will use its speedy flying speed to try and get away and failing that a quick volley of its tail spikes will see its pursuers retreating.

Juvenile Manticore – created in Tetra-cube

Then we have the big monster for the week, the Alpha Manticore. Not just a large manticore, oh no this is the biggest, strongest and oldest of their kind. So much that its scarred hide has become more resilient than it has any right being. Able to intimidate most creatures with a fearful roar and a wide range of attacks and legendary actions that will keep any hunters guessing.

Its well honed senses, particularly hearing and smell, enable it to hunt its preferred prey, sheep, to its hearts content.

Thanks for joining me tonight as we looked at two variants of the normal manticore. I can’t wait to send the alpha manticore at my party and watch them take a few steps back in a panic when it starts to fight more ferociously than what they were perhaps expecting. Don’t forget to come back this weekend as we continue this adventure and some other content and, as always, don’t forget to roll with advantage,

Messenger of the Gesig horde

The Messenger of the Gesig horde, the Notyrep used to be twisted creature with large fleshy bat-like wings that carried these hideous mixture of hyena, bat and vulture. Since the entire population of them was created in the Gesig horde these have likely never been seen, perhaps only ever heard of.

So let’s sit down, grab a coffee as we roll into tonight’s encounter!

Messenger of the Gesig horde

437FrMeGeHo

The Notyrep is a horrible abomination of fleshy muscle, tufts of fur and feathers that serve no purpose other than to hint at what the creature could be a composite of. Fast on foot it uses its clawed hand on its grip into the ground, wall or building as it rushed forward. While it may be fast on the ground its faster in the air using its large wings to propel it forward and it’s in the wait where its most lethal.

Using its jaws it tries to rip out chunks of its prey while its talons rake at them while flying past. Nimble and powerful it takes a little bit to take one out and it is adept at hunting those that try to avoid it with its keen sense of smell and sight.

Avatar of the Storm

The Avatar of the storm, the embodiment of natures wrath and its anger at humanity. Sadly in its wrath it has chosen to seek out the greatest population of civilisation to meet out its judgement against those who stood against nature. However it’s the executioner, not the judge.

So let’s sit down, grab a coffee as we roll into tonight’s encounter!

Avatar of the Storm

436FrAvSt

The Avatar of the Storm takes the form of something pure and innocent, normally a large herbivore which has given the power of the storms that surround it. Able to control these storms it can summon down bolts of lightning to strike its foe and if its threatened, it will smash through it with its massive feed. In this case the Avatar of the Storm is a massive deer with lightning that surges through its horns, the fur around its neck and even through its hooves.

The creature is not malicious or evil but its called to the places where humans gather so that the storm it brings can. However the driver of the storm is quite a the opposite and harbours a deep resentment for people and civilisation in general

Quite a big creature this week and something that should be difficult to take down. However, as always there is normally more to these encounters that meet the eye and there may be several smaller encounters before we reach the main on this week. Silver Sparrows Curse

This week we look at the Silver Sparrows Curse, more to the point the cursed object that was brought into the hall of the Silver Sparrows guild. This item as well as providing glimpses of the buried past also corrupts the area in which it rests and forces other discontented spirits into the material plane to do its bidding. Or so it is thought to do so.

So let’s sit down, grab a coffee as we roll into tonight’s encounter!

Silver Sparrows Curse

The Animated Tome lays in wait and appears to provide the holder, or those around it, with knowledge that benefits them. However what it seeks is a place of significance where it can harness the latent and residual magical energies nearby to bring other malicious spirits who are yet to pass on into the plane of existence and to, hopefully, create more latent magic so it can feed. Once fed these animated items normally try to rip its own spirit out of the book it resides in to live once more.

Animated Tome – created in Tetra-cube

The animated tomes greatest ability is the locus of animation where the cursed book can bring other objects to life to protect it, and more importantly, hopefully coax more magic to be used in order for it to harness. Unless this time it will lay inert and wait for the animated objects to either bludgeon its targets to death or create more after its regained some of its magical strength.
