Cave Invasion – Created in WordPress!?

As the party moved through the outskirts of Wyrehaven, the distant sounds of battle filled the air—goblin war cries mixed with the terrified shouts of common folk. Rushing forward, they found a cart riddled with arrows, its horse lying dead with a spear jutting from its chest. A small group of humans struggled to defend themselves, their guard expertly using his shield to deflect goblin attacks while others jabbed spears at their attackers. Blinded by the harsh sunlight, the goblins could barely fight back as the party charged in. Within moments, the tide of battle had turned, and the goblins were either slain or scattered, leaving the humans safe but shaken.

The grateful travellers shared their story, explaining how they had been ambushed while passing near a tree-lined hill. Though they had expected the threat of bandits, goblins had caught them off guard. Their guard, Sven, admitted their luck in surviving the attack, particularly with the goblins’ poor ability to fight in bright light. As he hitched his own horse to the cart, the travellers urged the party to accompany them to Wyrehaven, where the local guard offered bounties on goblins and other troublesome creatures. They hinted that the party might find work in the city if they were looking for coin or reputation.

Arriving at Wyrehaven, the party followed Sven to the Iron Gauntlet’s barracks, the city’s guard and militia headquarters. While waiting for Sven to speak with the captain, they overheard rumours and speculation about recent events. When Sven returned, he was accompanied by a short woman with cropped hair and tired, calculating eyes—Captain Jin. She acknowledged the party’s report and expressed concern over the unusual behaviour of the goblins. Sven agreed, recalling previous efforts to contain them when their numbers grew too aggressive. Jin then offered the party a mission: investigate why the goblins had moved so far from their usual territory. She warned of the risks but promised good rewards and provisions should they accept.

Not long after leaving Wyrehaven, Sven rejoined the party, explaining that Jin had sent him to assist and report back any findings. Taking the rear guard, he helped keep watch as they travelled. The party rode on horses provided by the guards, not the best but reliable enough. Their pursuit of the goblins quickly revealed signs of their retreat, with the wounded and dying left behind. As the trail led them deeper into the wilds, they encountered surviving goblins, leading to a brief skirmish before an uneasy night’s rest. Come dawn, the party examined the fallen, discovering strange wounds—puncture marks like those from spiders or snakes, alongside old battle scars.

Pressing forward, they followed the goblins’ trail until they reached the foothills of the mountains. There, they found a small goblin camp abandoned only recently, as well as tracks belonging to various beasts—lizards, spiders, wolves, and others resembling goblin footprints yet oddly different. As they entered the deserted goblin village within a large cave, the destruction was evident. Huts had been burned and torn apart, bones scattered across the ground, gnawed clean and cracked open. A pungent stench of musk, metal, and sulphur filled the air, making them gag. Whatever had taken over this place had rooted itself deep within, and if it had driven a goblin clan to flee, it could pose a far greater threat to the nearby settlements

The town of Cherpa is on the brink of disaster. Every year, the grand Festival of the Iron-Shelled Hunt brings glory to the finest Cherpa hen handlers as they compete in retrieving the elusive shellfish from the depths of the great lake. But something is terribly wrong—the Cherpa hens have vanished. Their empty roosts leave the town eerily silent, save for the desperate calls of their handlers. A mystery shrouds the lake, and the festival stands on the edge of ruin. The town’s leaders have sent out a call for heroes to uncover the truth, recover the missing birds, and save Cherpa’s most treasured tradition before time runs out.

Cherpa Mills – Smaller image – Created in Inkarnate

Cherpa is a peaceful village that thrives because of its great lake. The mighty Cherpa hen, a powerful bird that bonds with its handler, helps the villagers fish for the prized iron-shelled fish. Each year, the town holds a grand competition to showcase the skill and trust between handler and bird. But something has gone terribly wrong—every Cherpa hen has disappeared without a trace. The festival hangs in the balance, and whispers of dark figures lurking near the lake spread through the town. Desperate, the elders offer a reward to anyone brave enough to solve the mystery.

The party arrives in Cherpa, expecting to see the legendary birds. Instead, they find a town bursting with festival sounds but missing its main attraction. As they explore, they overhear an argument between merchants—one of them, frustrated, claims the birds are truly gone. Then, an elderly halfling woman pleads for help. The mayor, Gerald, went to search for the missing hens but has not returned. Her young grandchildren beg the party to find their grandfather and bring him home.

Near the lake, the party finds Gerald fighting for his life—two enormous frogs are trying to swallow him whole! After saving him and returning to town, the celebration resumes, but their relief is short-lived. A panicked child bursts through the door: “Help! Corey’s in trouble!” Chasing after Casey, the party arrives at an old windmill, its wooden beams broken and rotting. Inside, strange creatures prowl around a mass of frightened birds, shielding a crying child from the beasts’ attacks. The mystery deepens, and danger grows—what force threatens Cherpa’s beloved birds, and can the party save them before the festival is lost forever?

The Temple of Portents – Created in WordPress!?

The party arrived in Lumos during its holiest month, when clerics and mages gathered to deliver divine messages. The city had long thrived under the guidance of the High Oracle and the Portent Quartet, but doubts were growing. As they made their way to the towering ziggurat at the city’s centre, the air was thick with anticipation, scepticism, and frustration. Some citizens had suffered misfortunes from failed prophecies, blaming the diviners for their losses. Despite this uncertainty, the people still gathered, kneeling before the temple, waiting for the sacred ritual to begin.

The High Oracle stood with the four elemental diviners, each performing symbolic gestures—air cleared the sky, fire extinguished all lights except a single brazier, water soothed the crowd, and earth lifted the temple platform into the sky. A rhythmic chant echoed through the city as the ceremony unfolded. But when the Oracle spoke, her voice trembled with unease. “The stars are not aligned…” she announced before retreating into the temple. Panic spread among the people, their cries for mercy shaking the streets. The party knew this moment would linger in their memories for years to come.

As the night descended into chaos, city guards intervened, but it was the Portent Quartet who truly calmed the frightened crowds. With the divination failing, uncertainty gripped the city, yet the party found shelter at an inn, securing a good price in the confusion. The next morning, they encountered a mysterious woman in a red cloak, Tusicka Ignate, the Diviner of Fire. She had seen their faces, clothing, and surroundings in her vision with eerie accuracy—something only true prophecy could reveal. Suspecting their importance in unravelling the city’s crisis, she bought them a meal and explained that someone inside the temple was interfering with the Oracle’s magic, corrupting divinations and throwing the city into disorder.

Tusicka led them to the temple, where brown-robed figures with black scarves—Diviners of Earth—moved about, guided by Mistress Aeligica. Unlike others, Earth’s connection to the gods remained strong. Aeligica coldly informed Tusicka that the Oracle was attempting to restore her link through Earth’s strength alone. Suspicion lingered, and when Tusicka pressed further, Aeligica suddenly struck, sending her flying across the temple and disrupting her magic. She revealed the temple had been shifted, severing the powers of all elements except Earth, ensuring her dominance. Brown-robed figures surrounded the remaining priests, cutting off the weakened diviners.

Just as the party braced for confrontation, Tusicka reappeared, her body wreathed in fire. She had restored her connection to the ley lines and confirmed their fears—someone had deliberately disrupted the balance of magic. Now, with power returning to her, the truth was undeniable. The party stood at the threshold of a battle that would decide the fate of the temple and the future of Lumos itself.

Through relentless rain and a tangled landscape, the party journeys to Starbrook, a village known for its fish trade but now burdened by a dark mystery. A wounded fisher, Sil, recounts an attack by an unseen creature lurking beneath the waters—one that has begun targeting people rather than prey. Urged by a desperate merchant named Rei, the group sets out to hunt the beast before the village’s fragile trade agreements crumble. As they navigate the dense forest, Sil leads them to the riverbank, where an unsettling discovery awaits: despite the downpour and the onset of the wet season, the water has receded unnaturally. Their search takes them upstream, where they uncover a crude dam, its makeshift structure forcing the river into an unnatural swell. Among tangled branches and broken rods, they spot movement beneath the surface—something resisting the current, something watching.

Determined to uncover the truth, Sil quickly takes action, hurling a weighted silken rope into the waters where the creature may be lurking. The moment it catches, she is nearly pulled under, the rope going taut as an unseen force drags with immense strength. The party rushes to her aid, engaging in a grueling struggle against an adversary that refuses to relent. When the tension suddenly snaps, sending them sprawling backward, they anticipate victory—only to find the branch they haul in stripped clean, its bark marred with unnatural markings. Then, a chilling realization dawns upon them as the surface of the water breaks, revealing two watchful eyes that gleam from the depths.

In an instant, the floodwaters erupt into chaos. Massive tentacles lash out, striking with terrifying speed, ensnaring logs, soil, and, worse, the unsuspecting adventurers. A beaked monstrosity, the scorch-venom octopus, emerges half-submerged, its gleaming gaze locked onto the party. One tentacle crushes a fallen tree, sending debris flying, while another coils around an adventurer, dragging them toward the swirling depths. Blades flash, arrows pierce the rain-soaked air, but the octopus fights with relentless cunning. Never fully revealing itself, it remains just below the surface, striking with calculated precision, forcing the group into retreat with every failed attempt to gain an advantage.

The battle rages as the party struggles against the monstrous creature. Its tentacles dart between rocks and fallen trees, searching for weakness, seizing moments of hesitation. Mud churns underfoot as the party fights against both the beast and the unforgiving terrain, their strength fading against its relentless force. It is not merely attacking—it is testing them, assessing their resistance. The river, once unnaturally subdued, now crashes forward as the octopus thrashes, disrupting the dam and sending waves spilling over the banks. Their hunt has become a desperate fight for survival, and as the waters rise, the creature refuses to retreat, forcing them toward a fateful confrontation.

With the village’s future hanging in the balance, the party must decide whether to stand their ground or flee the growing storm, knowing full well that the octopus will not abandon its hunt. The waters churn, the rain intensifies, and the beast’s piercing eyes never leave them. Whatever lurks beneath the depths has proven to be more than a mindless predator—it is something far more dangerous. And unless they act quickly, Starbrook’s waters may soon claim more victims.

2025 Campaign Adventure 20

Good evening all and welcome to the 20 adventure for my D&D party utilising DnD 2024 rules. While I will endeavour to not give away the campaign, adventure or plot moving forward (in case my party read these updates!) I will attempt to write up each adventure this year continuing with my, now, 2025 Campaign Adventure 20 – continuing on from the 2023 and 2024 adventure.

This is a continuation from Campaign adventure 19 as the party continues on their first mission as members of the investigation of the strange creatures in these lands.

2025 Campaign Adventure 20

Plot:

New Companions and Travelling Arrangements

The party woke up and had a hearty meal consisting of sausages, bacon, eggs, thick cut toast, and in Taters case, a breakfast Ale. With Groku and Armaeth joining them as they finishing the last parts of their meal they caught sight of Tobias who had a tired and worn look to his normal smug expression. As he approached Tater and Kai, sitting down next to them, he explained that Steffani had approved a small group going to investigate the Bashe remains. He had been approved to travel with the party if they requested due to the mysterious nature of the mission.

Gwen had indicated that there was a lot of unknowns or conflicting reports but the request for aid and Payment in advance was enough for the guild to go and investigate. With little ceremony the party had invited Tobias, Tobi, to come and join them as long as he organised his own horse. Appearing uncertain about it he hurried off to procure a suitable steed.

The party caught up with Tobi as he sauntered side-saddled towards them on a rather fetching white riding horse. Its blond mane and tale complimented the golden accents to the riding tack and the very small riding bags that he had with him. Explaining for some while as he admired the green died leather accented harness and saddle he commented that it appeared to be quite uncommon for adventurers to ride side saddled – but he was determined to continue.

After Tater had taken to the Draft horse, Armaeth sitting with Groku on her riding horse and Kai deciding to walk until he could call forth his paladin-graced steed, they were about to head off where Tater was thrown to the ground by the ornery old draft horse. Tobi did not let up the comments about providing some tips and tricks about riding a horse and even suggested that the sturdy dwarf ride side saddled as it may prove more suitable.

Even despite the while stallion receiving an almighty whack from Tater that sent it dashing off towards the eastern gate Tobi managed to stay on the horse through sheer luck – much to Tater and Kai’s chagrin.

Cross Roads

The party continued for some time and Kai made an effort to show off some of the magical tricks that he head learnt when he was travelling with the wizard Tim. Tobi being amazed at first was a quick study and soon was boasting bout the age at which he had mastered the spells that Kai had likely spent ages learning. This wasn’t earning him any brownie points but the conversation was still civil as they continued along the eastern road.

The roads were busy this side of Warrensdeep with most of the traffic being agricultural or trade. The roads were well maintained and guarded as they approached a busy crossroads. Taking the path towards Faerstead the roads got a lot quieter and it was here that Kai was finally sick of walking and instead decided to play another trick on Tobias.

‘Hey Tobi, have you ever seen ancient goblin magic?’ he asked as he proceeded to vomit forth his paladin steed. The creature had a large wolf-like body with several bat features woven heavily through the creatures appearance. Lage ears, a wrinkled nose and sharp teeth. Along is muscular forelegs – where it divulged from mainly bat features – vestigial wings with a leathery skin between the inoperable bones that sprung rom near its clawed feet.

The mage nearly passed out, both Tater and Kai mocked him while the girls continued on like nothing happened. After a bit of time where the animals were needing a break, and so was Tobi as he was not used to riding horseback side-saddled or otherwise, they came across a small spring and some trees. Taking this time to rest they recounted how quiet it had been even with the potential ambush along the road where Armaeth had flown off to scout for the potential attackers only to see them fleeing into the distance away from the party. As they wrapped up their short break they continued towards Faerstead.

Sudden Test

Wanting to regain some dignity after the near-passing out incident Tobi volunteered for first watch that night as they were cooking a few large tubers he managed to find and a partridge he had caught. As they ate roasted vegetables and bird Kai and Tobi concocted a plan to test Tobi to make sure he was aware of what was involved when on watch.

Messaging his summoned steed via the telepathic link he organised for the creature to sneak off and, periodically, growl near by to test how Tobi reacted. Instead of raising the alarm he pulled out a little leather book called ‘A guide to the world’ and began taking notes around a Growling Owl. It wasn’t until the creature had pounced on him and licked his face that the party let him in on the test. Mordekai joined him for the rest of his watch and they experienced nothing foreign in their period. Rousing Tater, another prank from them both gone wrong, with a hefty kick to the stomach Tobi withdrew to a meditating like trance while Tater took watch.

It was then that somethings started to approach the camp. Rousing everyone and dousing the flames they prepared for battle but the eight foot tall bear-like apes that appeared was not what they were expecting. With a flurry of movement and violence Tobi had illuminated the creatures and sur rounding battlefield to make sure that those without Darkvision would be able to see the creatures which is when the first creature lashed out at Groku after her thrown axe barely missed it.

Digging in its sharp honed claws into her sounder it dragged her other shoulder into its mouth and bit down hard. The sudden ferocity and blood lust took the party by surprise and Groku was not looking well after sustaining a critical wounding strike. As the party fought back Kai blessed the party before he and his mount raced to support Tater and Groku who were facing off against two of these creatures. However the sustained damage against them caused a physical change in the creatures. Their wrinkly bear-baboon like faces grew taught and nearly skull like as a crown of flesh extended on top of their heads.

It attacked with renewed vigour and aggression as the smell of its own blood and the pain pushed it into a frenzy. As the party weathered the beating Tobi cast Chromatic orb and as the balls of energy lashed into the uninjured creature that was currently attacking Taters flank he managed to reel in the orb and send it spinning into the enraged, but prone thanks to a trip from Groku, creatures chest boring through as he rotated the orbs faster.

The smell of burning flesh and ozone was briefly lived as Kai smashed his shillelagh empowered attack into the creature. The as the party was able to focus on a single creature Tater raised his Halberd high and with a flurry of attacks spurred on by rage and the growing recognition of the blood-frenzy state that the creature was about to get into, he landed the finishing blow, separating the creatures head from its body.

After cleaning up everyone and tending to the most wounded, being Groku, the party let Tobi examine the bodies before he burnt them in a magically charged bonfire later, his experience as part of a cleaning unit for the guild coming into hand.

Soon the party welcomed a new dawn after some fun the day before, an encounter with creatures they had not seen before, and some early memories of their new party formation being created.

A weary band of travelers arrives in Rimoi, a humble village known as a resting stop for adventurers. Little more than a collection of weathered houses, blacksmiths, and two rival taverns, the town seems ordinary—until the party stumbles into the Hooting Owl Tavern. Inside, the warm glow of a fire and the scent of roasting boar welcome them, but tensions hang in the air. The local guards storm out, their anger directed at the dwarven tavern keeper, Glenda. Over a meal, she explains her troubles: rats have infested her pantry, let in by starving children sneaking food. But the guards refused to help unless bribed, leaving Glenda trapped by her fear and haunted by the unexplained disappearance of the village’s orphaned urchins.

As the adventurers finish their meal, a young girl bursts into the tavern, panic in her wide eyes. Talley Rinden, too young to be surviving alone, flees into the street, prompting the party to chase her. The villagers sneer, calling her a “little rat” as they point the way. They catch her in a back alley, desperately trying to enter a locked door. Through tears, she reveals a chilling truth—her friends are missing. They vanished one by one after sneaking into the tavern’s pantry, unable to resist the call to investigate the eerie noises within. Too afraid to ask Glenda for help and certain the guards would imprison her, Talley has been left alone, terrified and desperate for answers.

Back at the tavern, Glenda’s kindness reassures the girl, but Talley can only sob one word—”Lost.” Then, a noise echoes from the depths of the pantry, something far larger than a rat. Glenda leaps onto a table, cleaver in hand, as the door swings open to reveal Rueben, her trusted assistant. But relief quickly turns to dread. His stiff movements, decaying flesh, and hollow stare betray something unnatural. He insists he will handle the rats himself, and in a chilling moment, Glenda’s expression goes vacant, accepting his words without question. Talley suddenly cries out—she has heard her friends’ voices coming from below. As Glenda hesitates, something grotesque stirs in the darkness.

Then, the stairs shake violently. From the shadows, monstrous, multi-legged horrors surge forth, scuttling toward them. Rueben’s voice, once soft, now drips with menace as he utters the terrifying truth—”The others grow tired of hiding. There is no escaping now, fools.” The party finds themselves trapped in a nightmare, faced with an ancient horror lurking beneath the tavern. To survive, they must uncover the truth, confront the unnatural terror that has ensnared the village, and rescue the missing children before Rimoi becomes nothing more than another forgotten town swallowed by darkness.

Red Harvest – Created in WordPress!?

The village of Ponkae, celebrated for its rich traditions and renowned delicacies, lay nestled beyond the rainforest’s damp roads. Along the way, the party witnessed villagers meticulously hunting Moon wave grubs, using hand-axes and reed-like tongs to extract the wriggling red creatures from decaying wood. Naya, a moss-cloaked guardian of the harvest, emerged to explain the importance of these grubs to Ponkae’s prosperity. Responding to an urgent call, she darted off, leaving the party to descend the grand steps into Ponkae’s vibrant valley.

Ponkae was a hive of activity, with farmers harvesting silken cocoons from jungle trees in the tiered valley alive with buzzing insects and running water. Amidst this bustling scene, an untouched patch of trees hung with black cloth provided an eerie contrast. The party marvelled at the colourful marketplace filled with silken wares, fragrant oils, strong beers, and tantalizing food, showcasing the rich traditions and craftsmanship that defined Ponkae.

A debate in the village’s amphitheatre revealed a pressing issue—Tamaya’s farm, left without a successor, threatened the harvest of silk and moon broth. As the villagers argued, Naya delivered startling news about blood-red, many-legged creatures stealing cocoons. The elder shared the legend of “red harvesters,” divine beings that appeared to reprimand the village’s greed. He tasked Naya and the scouts with tracking the creatures, forbidding harm, and allowed the travellers to assist in uncovering the truth.

Led by Naya, the party followed erratic tracks across farmland walls and ledges, eventually reaching a tree draped in black cloth where shredded bark and hollow silken cocoons suggested a violent encounter. The search took them to Tamaya’s abandoned house, where a burrowed hole and disarrayed interior revealed that the creatures had used it as a nest. Naya suspected the grubs had matured and emerged, emphasizing the urgency of unraveling their origins to safeguard Ponkae.

As the rain intensified, the party spotted claw marks around cocoon mounds, some salvaged by villagers, others successfully raided by the creatures. At the upper levels, a rare red cocoon fluttering in the breeze hinted at its extraordinary value, with Naya explaining its lucrative significance. Danger loomed as red creatures emerged from the woods, mandibles snapping and antennae twitching with menace, their intent clear—to guard the undisturbed cocoons as they confronted the party.

The warriors surged forward, their oversized claws clicking as they charged. Their powerful mandibles opened and closed in anticipation for the fight to come. Claws tore into shields and grasped at weapons with brutal efficiency, each strike aiming to capture and slash while their strong jaws could crush and shatter limbs. The party fought desperately but the ants moved with unsettling coordination. One ant lunged, its claws locking around the human’s arm as its mandibles clamped down on blade, splintering the steel like it was dry wood.

Above the fray, the queen loomed as she slowly descended. A massive creature whose sleek body reflected the dim light from the forest ominously. She clicked her mandibles, emitting a resonant sound that rallied the warriors to redirect their attacks to the adventurer that could pose the biggest threat. As she moved towards the front lines her stinger poised and glinted. The queen thrust it downward towards the party, narrowly missing but a spray of ichor saw the warriors disengage with their current prey and rush towards the doused target.

The Wakeless Sleep

Now for the next Zine of the year I present, in single page zine format, The Wakeless Sleep. I still believe that these provide DMs a lot more freedom to tinker with it how they want and open up the adventures to be more free formed and flowing than the larger booklet zines.

There is references to the blog nights which are D&D centric (regarding Friday night’s Stat-blocks) but this adventure can be used system agnostic more so than my regular Zines. As always Kobold fight club can be used to quickly balance an encounter for Dungeons and Dragons and Tetra-cube provides the stat-blocks for many of my D&D creatures.

So I hope you enjoy this weeks adventure, The Wakeless Sleep, and that all your rolls are made with advantage.

The Wakeless Sleep – Created in WordPress!?

The party arrived in Launghui, a coastal village famed for its plentiful fish harvests, but was met with an eerie silence and abandoned streets. Passing through the shark-jaw gate, they discovered shuttered homes and lifeless villagers lying in their beds, faintly breathing yet impervious to magic or aid. A teen girl named Sunraya stumbled along the road, sharing a chilling tale of a curse that had afflicted the village after the last catch. Alone in her wakefulness, Sunraya explained how a past offense to a witch had previously plunged the village into a similar slumber, only broken when the witch was appeased.

Despite their efforts to comfort Sunraya and unravel the mystery, the party uncovered unsettling signs of the curse’s grip. Sunraya’s refusal to eat the village’s tainted fish left her hungry but still conscious, while the rest of the villagers had fallen into a wakeless sleep after consuming the fish. After sharing a meager meal of fish from a nearby trap, Sunraya succumbed to sleep, her condition worsening as a faint magical presence enveloped her. With their only lead slipping away, the party placed Sunraya by her sleeping parents and stepped out into the fog-covered village, where they encountered a sea witch cloaked in seaweed and vengeance.

The sea witch declared her blood oath fulfilled, revealing her plot to poison the villagers through the very fish they loved, ensuring their downfall before awakening. Her sinister laughter echoed as she vowed to finish the task before the curse lifted, targeting the villagers for their past wrongdoings. Turning to the party, she recognized them as outsiders and attempted to charm them with her tragic tale of rejection and loss. Her words masked a thinly veiled threat as she advanced, the oppressive fog thickening around her. The witch’s form grew more menacing, her nails elongating into talon-like claws as she moved toward the adventurers with feral determination. The party was faced with the critical choice to act swiftly or risk becoming her next victims.

2025 Campaign Adventure 19

Good evening all and welcome to the 19th day of adventuring for my D&D party utilising DnD 2024 rules. While I will endeavour to not give away the campaign, adventure or plot moving forward (in case my party read these updates!) I will attempt to write up each adventure this year continuing with my, now, 2025 Campaign Adventure 19 – continuing on from the 2023 and 2024 adventure.

This is a continuation from Campaign adventure 17 & 18 as the party continues on their first mission as members of the investigation of the strange creatures in these lands.

Plot:

Tithes of Thanks

The party woke up to a fresh morning with a few things to organise before their next mission. Gathering up their things and saying hello to Marie after a brief breakfast they head towards the Temple of Ilmater to have a chat with the clerics there. Brother Steve, the man who had welcomed Kai into the brotherhood greeted them and after Kai explained what had happened to his arm, in a non-detailed and flattering way, brother Steve managed to restore some of its functionality.

While Kai regained the ability to move his arm the strength and dexterity he once had was yet to return. A longer period of time was required to heal this affliction. As they offered a large sum of money to pay for the healing they also organised to get several healing potions created by brother Simon. As they were enquiring about where to get better weapons and adventuring gear Brother Steve warned them to steer clear of Tsar who runs a Bazaar and deals nearly exclusively in stolen items, including the church’s holy symbol that once adorned their central altar.

Finding a way to fell two orcs with one arrow they head off in search of Tsar and his Bazaar in the market.

Tsar’s Bazaar.

The party eventually found the place they were looking for. Flashy, gawdy and overly expensive the place oozed the arrogance behind the man who owned the shop. Entering they were greeted with a typical pawn shop. Shelves of people’s junk or treasured items lined next to each other. On the wall there was dozens of weapons that, with his trained eye, Tater could tell were all fake or made to look more impressive than what they were.

As they were looking a man that was more moustache than charm waddled up to them and introduced himself as Tsar. He was entirely too focused on himself and his business but made a great deal of effort in trying to sell the weapons that were on the wall to the party. Claiming that one of the axes, which was evident to Tater was intended for carpentry not battle, had felled a dragon and once belonged to a dwarven king.

After Kai enquired about holy relics of churches he used their drift globe as a tool to try and sell the appearance that he too was into the same type of ‘business’ as Tsar. After some clever deceptions the disturbing man produced a small chest filled with iconography of the gods, all of them liberated from churches. Making a great show of leaving and being somewhat uninterested as they had to sell ‘dragons teeth’ they barely left the counter before Tsar stopped them. Retrieving a single tooth that they retrieved from the Snowtown Quarry cave Tsar became transfixed . With some clever thinking Tater and Kai made the man believe that the tooth came from the same dragon that his axe allegedly slew.

Spotting a good bit of business the man ran off, advising them to search through the ‘ugly blade’ bucket as he quickly retrieved an expert in teeth.

Familiar Faces

While the man left the shop open Kai retrieved Ilmaters symbol from the box, which he had spotted earlier and stashed it in their pouch of holding. Noting a wicked looking repeating crossbow armed and ready behind the counter in case Tsar needed to deal with ‘business interference’. As they searched through the blades in the ‘ugly bucket’ they realised that all of these had been taken from graves. Some still had grave dirt on them but they were well made and were suited for combat unlike the ones on the wall.

Tater noticed that two stood out, the blades themselves showing no sign of decay, damage or wear and tear. A rapier that’s blade was razor sharp and nick-free and a long sword which had its blade glow like molten silver. Grabbing those blades and following Tsars advice, as he excitedly left, ‘Take any blade from the bucket. I can’t have my business partners going around unarmed.’ they stood their and waited for the man to return.

Using a trick that Kai had learnt early in his days of travelling with the wizard that had ‘adopted him’ he had an unseen servant rotate the supposed dragons tooth above the counter, holding it a foot above the wood. Tsar returned with a familiar face. Tobias, the mage that they had interviewed briefly to accompany them.

Recognising the party Tobi made a silent pact to not reveal each other to the man, or their employers as he inspected the tooth. Not a dragon. Something more. A bashe, a large serpent that used to hunt dragons and had a strange kindship with purple worms. After hearing about how rare they were and how valuable these teeth were Tobi helped the party convince Tsar that it was worth more than his shop was worth. Tobi agreed to sell his shop on the condition that he would receive the tooth – greed taking over his eyes. Agreeing to meet the party at Ms Trotters Tavern, where the party had no intention of visiting, he would bring what gold he could to purchase the tooth from them.

As the man hurried them out the door, the tooth still in possession with the party, he ran off to begin making as much coin as possible in a short amount of time to pay for the tooth and to truly become rich. Tobi confirmed it was a Bashe tooth, that part was not deceptive, but also advised they are valuable to certain people – he being one of them.

As they left the party discussed with Tobi the potential of him joining them on their next journey to Faerstead. Considering the offer he agreed to meet the party at the Five Fat Ravens Inn later to discuss the tooth, the mission and more. The party head back to the Tavern, spoke to Tobi about where they found the tooth so the guild could go and retrieve more teeth for study and, profit.

As they rested they prepared themselves for their next mission.

Thanks for joining me tonight for the continuation of my campaign for my group. Don’t forget to come back again tomorrow for more content. And, as always, don’t forget to roll with advantage,
