Cliff Dwellers

Tonight is a pretty simple one as we meet the Cliff dwellers known as Wind Cutters. These leathery skinned creatures are designed to fly and soar above the desert skies. But their speed is also matched with their strength with the ability to carry up to two human sized creatures on its back. With the race on to get to Andrasa’s treasure first speed and strength mean a lot. So let’s sit back as tonight we investigate this new creature!

The Wind cutter goes by a few names but it is a much smaller cousin of the wyvern and winged drakes that people may be familiar with. With a wingspan of twelve feet and large muscles that power these massive sails they are quick and strong.

This makes them excellent mounts for those who know how to handle them, or who have a stomach for heights and speed. They are carnivorous but lack true aggression like many land predators. They prefer to hunt small prey or scavenge. However they have been known to carry off creatures to great heights and to drop them to make an easy meal.

More will come this weekend as I wrap up a few adventures that have piled up but also reveal what awaits us within Andrasa’s tower. A mage never quite leaves their sanctuary undefended and this one is no exception. So don’t forget to come back for more adventure this weekend! And lastly, as always, don’t forget to roll with advantage

Seekers of Lost Knowledge

This week finds the party with lost knowledge and potential hints to the biggest treasure in Rastabar, but there are other Seekers of Lost Knowledge. The party have to out play, out muscle and outrun these confronters and return The information to their patron before its wrestled, or beaten, from them. So sit back as tonight we investigate creatures!

A whole rabble of people line the streets of Rastabar. From commoners to guards and mercenaries to mages and knights there is nearly an endless list of who could be after the party at any one time, or who could be trying to keep the peace.

A short one tonight but it builds to a bigger adventure this weekend so don’t forget to come back for that. This weekend I also have D&D back on the menu after a break for warhammer so keep an eye out for updates on that. And lastly, as always, don’t forget to roll with advantage

The Fellgorger

Tonight I wanted to dip in to something I tend to do as part of my normal D&D campaign, Monster creation and this weekend it’s the Fellgorger. Creating monsters is not mandatory but it can enrich the tabletop adventure you have planned for the session.

Now onto the Fellgorger!

The fellgorger appears to be feline by nature and about the size of large cat. Despite it being powerfully built the fellgorger constantly seeking food to fill its disended stomach. Powerful muscles enable it to take down most creatures its size or larger. However being cursed to never been sated only a few moments after eating their fill they find themselves hungry again shortly after.

This causes the fellgorger to also commit cannibalism frequently and so as a species they are rare and only a few tales of them are said around the camp fire tales of nightmares.

Thanks for dropping by tonight for a look at the new creature tonight. This creature may not make an appearance in this weeks adventure, as such. However, its something that could be fun regardless. Don’t forget to come back tomorrow and as always, don’t forget to roll with advantage,

Race to the Amulet

Tonight’s adventure finds the party in a life or death race to the amulet, a key magical item that defines success in this weeks adventure. Landing at the edge of the largest floating island the party quickly discover some things that don’t seem right. A potential thief and a guardian of the ruins are this weeks opponents. So sit back as tonight we investigate creatures!

Race to the Amulet

332FrRaTTAm

As the party stepped foot on the floating islands the ruins in front of them glittered. Even from the sky as they came in form their ships they could tell that every stone ruin was inlaid with gold. Perhaps that is what drew the attention of the dragon.

โ€˜Where is it!โ€™ the blue dragon roared in frustration as it stood on two of the pillars and balanced between them. โ€˜I must find the trinketโ€™ it roared in growing frustration. The party from their vantage point outside the range of the ruins could see a small pedestal in the centre of the ruins that almost glowed with arcane power . But as soon as one of the party stepped near the ruins a hum resonated through the air. The statue slowly crawled to life, standing up and glancing around.

The blue dragon snarled and looked around. โ€˜You idiots! Who woke up the guardian. It will be a month before it rests again!โ€™

Thanks for visiting and looking at this weeks encounter. Two large creatures that are equally as imposing as they can be deadly. The clincher here is that the amulet controls the golem, if the dragon finds it first then the party will have to deal with two threats. However until the party find the amulet the golem will fight the closest creature to the amulet.

So don’t forget to come back this weekend as we finish this adventure. And lastly, as always, don’t forget to roll with advantage

Denizens of Trenchold Woods

Welcome to another Friday night where tonight we are looking at the Denizens of Trenchold Woods. These are good creatures for level 1 or level 2 parties to encounter and can make for a fun and enriching adventure despite being cliche. But you can scale this to a larger encounter by adding more creatures or looking at higher CR creatures (such as trolls or hobgoblins) to be the aggressor in this weeks adventure. So sit back as tonight we investigate stat-blocks!

Denizens of Trenchold Woods

The wild ones

A collection of creatures for random encounters that can be used either on the way to the cave, on the side of the road or even in the cave. Some of these you can set up as the main battle, like the ogre, who is a tough combatant (if you start adventures at level 2 for example).

The Goblins, orcs and such are all easy enough for a level 1 party of 4 to deal with but don’t forget that weight of numbers is also a great way to challenge a party.

All sources from tetra-cube.

Humans

The humans are easy, cultist, bandits or other low level encounters can pose as a main threat or as a twist along the way.

Thanks for visiting tonight more low level stat blocks for the adventure. Come back tomorrow to get a look at the tournament progress, day 1 results and hopefully a picture of the army that I mentioned last week. Don’t forget to come back this weekend as we produce the end of the weeks writeup. And lastly, as always, don’t forget to roll with advantage

Followers of Flame and Water

Welcome to another Friday night where tonight we are looking at the Followers of Flame and Water. Now some of you may have realised what I was doing when I mentioned the creatures of the other night when I mentioned flying creatures. But tonight we reveal a bit more of what was to come. So sit back as tonight we investigate stat-blocks!

Followers of Flame and Water

The Mephits

Mephits are elemental creatures that appear to be humanoids with wings. These creatures generally align themselves with an elemental plane but most comprise of one or two elemental natures.

The magma Mephit may be a bit strong so I would suggest using the Mud Mephit and Smoke Mephit in its place as they are a little less overwhelming.

All sources from tetra-cube.

Servants to the elementals

The next stage up is the cultists. Now we got a glimpse of this the other night where we saw some of the village elders actively encouraging the water to rise – however its not just water we have to contend with. Cultists of fire Genasi and Magmin also either impede the approach to the mountain or are are the precipice. Only time will tell.

All sources from tetra-cube.

The Forces of Nature

Now it wasn’t hard to work out that I would have elementals in this weeks adventure but the end combat will be something a bit challenging even for veteran players, I hope. So I hope these forces of nature are up to the task.

The ‘other’ Boon

Welcome to another Friday night where tonight we are looking at the ‘other’ boon. Now until this moment we have kept our boons relatively mundane and simple. But what if we added a flirtatious bard, a protective father and king and a room filled with guards to the mix. But there is another boon that could be asked for. Tonight we can investigate both with the same stat-blocks!

The ‘other’ Boon

The request

The king stared at the party member for a moment as he began to process the request. “My own daughter… her hand in marriage is what you request for the boon…?” he quivered as he spoke. “And if she isn’t available my wife?!” he roared. “I generously offer you a reward where none was promised and you request the impossible. I seriously hope you are joking or you will find out just how generous I have been until this point.”

Now this one is simple. Asking for a daughters hand in marriage, or the queens hand could be a bit cheeky but it’s nearly guaranteed to be a quick way to make enemies. In this case a room filled with knights, guards, lords and even the requested princesses family may step towards to you protect her and their families honour.

They may have several guards, a few knights and even one or more Royals that would jump to the aid of the king. But also consider things like guard animals such as dogs, lions, cats or birds. Different cultures would have different animals.

The request for Aid

Now the other use for this certain set of stat blocks is the request for Aid. Asking the king or queen to have some of their troops and warriors. If the cause is noble and the deed great enough for the boon perhaps even the king or queen will join the adventurers who ask for such a boon.

In this case instead of fighting these statblocks they would join the party for a period of time. This would be more beneficial if they had a grand quest or conflict that they needed to prepare for, such as fighting demons lords, dragons, giants or worse.

The Lords Puppets

Welcome to another Fright-night Fight-night where tonight (there is a lot of -ight sounding words there…) day fight-night where we have the lords puppets. This week we have a powerful lord of the undead in the city calling his faithful servants to the hunt. However he didn’t anticipate that the adventurers would arrive so quickly to aid the priest that has vexed him so. But to look at his minions we need to get into tonights content.

So sit back, grab a coffee and let’s look at some creatures!

The Lords Puppets

The Puppets

Humans who are left to rot and die in the sewers or alleyways may turn into zombies who are called to the lord’s cause. However they are not the best at chasing down their prey โ€“ they save that for the bigger of the lord’s minions.

The Ghouls are fast, ferocious and frankly terrifying. A single bad roll and you’re paralyzed. My love for ghouls should be well documented now and this week sees a โ€˜hunting groupโ€™ have three ghouls and a Ghast with support from the lesser undead.

But these hunts need to have a leader. Enter the Vampire Spawn. Now I know what youโ€™re thinking. Vampires are no joke, their spawn are pretty lethal so will the sheer volume of bodies be too much? Probably not, but perhaps. So monitoring the flow of the combat and having the spawn enter when required to step up the pace would be ideal.

The Prophets of Shar

Welcome to another Friday fight-night where we have The Prophets of Shar entering the arena. This week we look at unravelling the mystery of the prophecy by examining the material and locating the source. But there is more than just empty rooms under Ruesford Manor and we have a big week ahead of us. So sit back, grab a coffee and let’s look at some creatures!

The Prophets of Shar

Lady Ruesford

Lady Ruesford is a mage of some power. Born into a family that worshipped Shar she was exposed to the Mistress of the Nights blessings from an early age. But as her family slowly left her she realised that somethings you just need to do yourself.

Getting married was difficult for her due to her devoutness to Shar. However she needed to keep up the pretence of being a lady of the city and an arrangement was made. While the arrangement suited them both she was still uncomfortable with the level of devotion to Shar she was able to give. So an ambitious project was undertaken and the result was a place of worship, a shrine to the goddess of darkness and night under her house.

Not long after construction finished she started to receive visions and urgent impulses to create a series of scrolls and documents that announced a prophecy.

Followers

Her followers, well the followers of Shar and the prophecy, although numerous are not very powerful. Shar can be fickle and jealous of those with real power and in her jealousy those who worship her never tend to get that powerful. However they are numerous and their powers combined can be deadly.

Friends of the Fey

Welcome to another Saturday where this update I provide further creatures to add more variety into our adventure. These friends of the fey So sit back, grab a coffee and let’s meet the snow fox!

Friends of the Fey

326SaFrOTFe

Friends of the Fey – Satyr Warhorn

Preferring melee to ranged combat these warriors are more heavily armoured than their lesser kin. They are also stronger and slightly bigger than their other Satyr kin. Driven to attack in frenzied bouts they charge into combat, ramming their targets before slashing at them with their short blade.

This makes short work of their opponents normally but they are far from their tricks and being savvy in combat is something that they pride themselves on.

Satyr Warhorn – created in Tetra-cube.

Satyr Swifthoof

Unlike the Satyr Warhorn the Satyr Swifthoof are thinner, lither and pride themselves in sudden volleys of targeted arrows that bring down their target. Preferring to be stealthy they typically hide to the edges of combat and launch volleys of arrows. Rarely do they willingly go into combat but if they need to they will.
