Contestants of the Prize

Following on from last week as we had a run with in a few NPCs, some new most of the old, we now look at the contestants of the prize. What prize you ask? Well Andrasa’s Tower of course and all the knowledge and goodies that reside within its walls. So we race to our chosen methods of transportation let’s grab a coffee, sit down and let’s meet some familiar faces.

Contestants of the Prize

Lucile Bendercuff’s team

Lucile Bendercuff – created in Artbreeder

Alex Portand – created in Artbreeder
Jessica Windhart – Created in Artbreeder

Now while not an elite team of treasure hunters Each member of Lucile’s team is an expert in their field. They race to secure knowledge and complete Lucile’s dream but not necessarily for profit. This makes them perhaps more deserving of the parties assistance but the party can make that choice when they get to it.

However none of them are fighters. Lucile may be tough and canny but they will need muscle and skill in order to best their rivals which also seek Andrasa’s Tower and her treasure.

The rivals

James Rubhek – Created in Artbreeder

Mary Cepwell – Created in Artbreeder
Colin Rubhek – Created in Artbreeder

Whilst Mary, James and Colin may have appeared to be on the side of Lucile and the party they have always had ulterior motives. Each one of them is driven to success and the promise of gold and riches.

Whilst Mary is not quite Lucile’s equal in knowledge of influence she is persuasive enough to get the right information and to put it to good use. Colin and James however, are in it for the money after spending the vast majority of their wealth frivolously; they aim to return wealthy as kings and with the mercenaries accompanying them they may very well be successful.

Whilst no one was new all of them have had their cards revealed. People from the start posing as tourists, a helpful librarian turns out to be a mastermind. What else lies in store for the party to have to deal with. Come back each day to find out and don’t forget to keep an eye out for additional adventures coming out this week. And lastly, as always, don’t forget to roll with advantage,

Those in the Know

This week we expand upon last weeks adventure calling out a soon to be familiar face, some familiar ones and some new ones. These few make up those in the know, or the people who know about the amulet, the golem and the dragon. So as this week continues to kick off let’s grab a coffee, sit down and let’s meet some NPCs.

Lucile Bendercuff

Lucile Bendercuff created in Artbreeder

Coming from wealth Lucile didn’t have to work hard to get where she did, she could have inherited her parents estate. She didn’t have to take over her fathers merchant business or her mothers thirst for knowledge but she did. However she didn’t just inherit it she grew it. A powerful, smart and driven young lady Lucile grew into a canny business woman with an eye for value and a keen sense for the arcane or rare.

Lucile was always fascinated with the legends of Rastabar, the old stories her gran used to tell her. Tales of heroes and villains and princesses. However her favourite stories were about the lost arch-magus Andrasa and the power that she wielded over the lands. It was the stories of her floating wizards tower, the guardians and the secret she locked away in arcane vaults that drove Lucile. Her dream to pursue the floating islands and to chase her dream and ambition further lead to her encounter with a party of adventurers who were maybe just the right group to get the job done. Now all she needed was the knowledge to the next place.

Familiar Faces

While the captain, Alex, moved make repairs on his ship and organise some supplies and business before the next adventure Jessica, James and Colin hung around Rastabar, most of the time drinking at one of Lucile’s bars as he way of bribing them to stay put and not spread word about what they saw on the floating island.

Mary Cepwell

Mary Cepwell – Created in Artbreeder

Mary works as a librarian primarily but she also does odd jobs when the subject and the price is right. Not much is known about her as she came to Rastabar when she was an adult and despite her lack of experience or knowledge in the city or its history she quickly fit in.

Another NPC Tuesday is here and we have some more NPCs to meet and some old ones. Don’t forget to come back each day this week as we expand this adventure. And lastly, as always, don’t forget to roll with advantage,
The Brazen Wolfe

Those That Dare to Fly

As we lift off into another adventure this week we meeting those that dare to fly above the deserts and barren landscape near Rastabar city. These people are a rag-tag bunch who are t here for the sight seeing, there to work the ship or for their own purposes. Regardless of what brings them onboard the party has their work cut out for them this week. So grab a coffee, sit down and let’s meet some NPCs.

Those That Dare to Fly

332TuThThDaTFl

Jessica Windhart

Jessica Windhart created in Artbreeder

An astute student of one of the colleges in Rastabar, Jess is quick to learn and the ships gave her the means to escape her dreary life on solid ground. An cartographer by trade but her true passion lies with the study of the stars, a passion that has saved the ship more than once when it was lost in the wild winds above the desert.

Jess hopes that she can earn enough money from mapping the lands and acting like a navigator on the ship to retire to a life studying the stars and documenting the course they follow on the evening’s backdrop.

Alex Portand

Alex Portand – created in Artbreeder

The captain of the ship and probably the grumpiest person alive aboard it Alex is not fond of, well, just about everything. He hates being called anything other than captain and if it wasn’t for the amount of gold that the benefactor of this endeavour was paying he would much rather be shipping water or goods from Rastabar city to a port for trade. The few times he has opened up about the ship he captains he mentions that he inherited it from his previous captain who sought to retire.

That was also the day that he gave up on his life in a far away city and followed the wind to trade and the promise of wealth.

The Rubhek Brothers

James Rubhek

James is young and impulsive and flirtatious all of the time. A well paying customer to see the sites of the desert as well as what’s in the clouds his money helped get this investigation on the way and off the ground, so to speak.

When he isn’t drinking, dancing and flirting he fancies himself a swordsman as well as a canny business man. It’s not easy getting as wealthy as he is but he leaves some of the operations and dealings to his little brother.

Colin Rubhek

The younger Rubhek brother, Colin, is cautious and seems to be cleaning up or chasing after his brother a lot of the time. He appears to care more about the appearance and reputation of his brother and their family name than his own enjoyment in life.

But when he isn’t watching over his brother like a hawk he can be found staring over the balcony of the ship and the endless sea of sand dunes with a peaceful look upon his face and a slight smile hidden behind his beard.

Thanks for joining me for another NPC Tuesday. There was a opportunity to really go ham with the NPCs this week and I restrained myself. But this week you can have just about as many NPCs as you want but keep in mind that the expectation is that you would have a backstory for all of them. So more fun means more work for us sadly. Don’t forget to come back daily this week as we expand upon this sky-high adventure. And lastly, as always, don’t forget to roll with advantage,

Trencholds Finest

This week we are returning to the basic adventure for something a bit easier as I complete the final parts of my
Warhammer army in preparation for the tournament this weekend. So this weeks NPCs are some of Trencholds Finest establishment owners. Whether you are staying at the Frisky Mare or the Dour Mule these two will be ready to serve you ale and food. So grab a coffee, sit down and let’s meet some NPCs.

Trencholds Finest

Taliah Winestring

Taliah Winestring created in Artbreeder

Going by Tilly to her friends Taliah Winestring is a long standing owner of the Frisky Mare. Despite the name giving her unwanted attention she is quick of wit and even quicker with a fry-pan and wash cloth and those who are being inappropriate in her inn learn about it in a harsh way.

However despite being the innkeeper and head server of libations and food she is also somewhat of an information broker. For the right price or asked in the right way she has information on just about every rumour and a lead for almost everyone. But there are some people she just will never help or even serve. Tavern owners have to have their standards and Taliah is quick to judge peoples character even if she isn’t getting the full picture.

Jake Whemswood

Jake Whemswood – created in Artbreeder

The owner of the Dour Mule Jake is a clever man. While his tavern isn’t upbeat or doing anything new it has some of the best food and the best rooms for people to stay in. Despite this not many people know about the Dour Mule and Jake does his best to promote it in odd ways.

Normally the first person to be out and about on any given morning he procures the best ingredients and brokers the best price on ale. He passes those savings onto those who visit his tavern and due to his prices and the quality of his food he is never in want of more customers. Sometimes he has to turn customers away but he does so in a manner that they want to come back and try to get a table with him at a different time.

Another week on the tabletop and this week we are looking at innkeepers. Most adventures start in an inn, or visiting them in some way and the humble innkeeper is a resourceful folk. If you want to follow along the rest of this easy adventure don’t forget to come back the next few days. And lastly, as always, don’t forget to roll with advantage,

A Village of Elements

This week we find the village of Molwert under threat as the crater lake threatens to spill over. However the village itself holds relics of the past in the form of the high concentration of Genasi that call this place home. But without spilling the history of Samuel and Charlta I better get stop there. So grab a coffee, sit down and let’s meet some NPCs.

A Village of Elements

330TuOKiAQu

Samuel Heatheredge

Samuel Heatheredge created in Artbreeder

Sam was born into one of the villages families that spent most of their time out on the water of the river. Being a water Genasi, watered down (excuse the pun) they have a natural affinity with the water but limited ways to actually influence in.

When the waters started to rise Sam felt a strong connection to the river and spoke to the elders around the potential risk it would have to the village. But the elders ignored Sam.

Charlta Harthbrez

Charlta Harthbrez – created in Artbreeder

Born from one of the long standing fire Genasi families Charlta never had to work much. Her family owned businesses and handled export and import into the village of Molwert and were quite wealthy. However despite being the newest generation of her family she had a strong connection to her heritage and could feel that there was something wrong.

A disturbance was brewing in the village and in the valley. There was a presence that thrummed through the streets and as Charlta was so in tune with the villages heritage it affected her deeply. She was prone to sporadic bursts of rage and during these fits her hair would appear to be as fire. A lot of this rage was targeted towards the other Genasi people in the village who were predominantly water Genasi. This caused Charlta to start discussions with the elders of the village who took her connection and sudden manifestation of power as signs of impending doom.

A great start to the week and continuing on with the next bombshells – the drama between NPCs. But both have a pivotal tie in with the story and each other. But to find out more it will come another day this week. So don’t forget to come back each night as we drift closer to the crater and the fight of an eon. And lastly, as always, don’t forget to roll with advantage,

Of Kings and Queens

As we continue this weeks adventure primer, or conclusion, its only right that we look at different
Key NPCs. When we talk of kings and queens that offer boons to adventurers they don’t always have to be benevolent or welcoming like the queen in the Boon of the Crown. Oh no they can just be trying to settle a debt or to use the parties fame to bolster their own appeal. What ever the reason we are here to investigate it all. So sit down grab a coffee and let’s roll into this nights introductions!

Of Kings and Queens

329TuOKiAQu

Jason Sorne

King Jason Sorne created in Artbreeder

Born into Royalty but not by first choice Jason Sorne was the last in the line to the kingdom of Jae. Without ever considering that the throne may be his Jason worked hard at being useful for the kingdom instead of focusing on women or power like his brothers.

However a conflict with a neighbouring country left his father, the king, dead and his elder brother, Harlsen, gravely ill. To keep the power within the throne for an extended period of time he was made king without any desire nor any experience in courtly politics.

When the adventurers unwillingly defeated a great evil that was besetting his kingdom he was cautious and curious. Why would strangers come to help his country without being asked. What is their game plan and are they here to swindle his country because they think him weak? His advisors, his fathers trusted friends, urge him to parley and offer these adventurers a reward, a boon, so that the have nothing further to ask from him or the kingdom. Once the boon is given then the debt is cleared.

Claire Constance Yulgo

Queen Claire Constance Yulgo – created in Nightcafe

Thankful to be rid of the dangers that brought her kingdom to its knees Queen Claire Yulgo sent messengers to retrieve the band of adventurers who had completed the deed. Claire was brought up by her mother, the previous queen, under the faith of Tymora. Luck would have it that the goddess had blessed her line for generations. As part of her faith she believes that good luck is deserving of reward and recognition and the timeliness of the adventurers appearing and defeating the threat to her people must be the work of the goddess. But luck goes both ways.

Believing that a debt needs to be settled she is prepared to reward the adventures in equal amounts to the luck and benefit that they have done. Their deeds are to be recognised for all of history and so a boon is in order. A favour from the queen for the adventurers to show her appreciation and by extensions the kingdoms.

Tonight we met two different approaches to kings and queens. I have written just two (as it gives me more content to write this weekend) to start. What this gives us is the ability to look at what we can work with. A suspicious king looking for ulterior motives and one wanting to reward because its the right thing to do. What ever the motives for the boon givers I think we can have fun with this. So don’t forget to come back each night as we expand this concept of a boon. And as always, don’t forget to roll with advantage,

The Prey and the Priest

Tuesday brings with it the The Prey and the Priest. This week finds the city of Narlowglen under threat by undead creatures that hunt the people of the city at night. But let’s skip a lot of the intro and sit down, grab a coffee and let’s roll into this nights NPC introduction!

The Prey and the Priest

328TuTPrATPr

Pay no mind to the darkness that scratches at your door at night as its not touched by the light.

Kelemvor’s Servant – Garst Ironwreath

Garst Ironwreath – created in Nightcafe

A servant of the god of the dead Kelemvor Garst has a strong conviction in his duties above those the normal. He has refused his clerical services before where the subject has been something that would prolong a natural death or even deny it. But he hunts undead and vehemently opposes their corruption. In fact he will twist his own faiths charter of letting the natural process of death occur if there was any hint of undead’s influence in the subjects health.

Despite being a powerful cleric in his own right he is bound to his duty to protect the natural flow. And as such he does not hunt the undead outside of the sight of his temple that he works within. Whether this is unable to or unwilling to is unknown.

Lady Artwell Bolguice

Lady Artwell Bolguice – created in Artbreeder

A few days away from leaving the city behind a beautiful stranger enticed Arty, Lady Artwell Bolguice, to stay out far later than she had wanted to that evening. This caused her to be stalked and attacked by an undead creature of resounding cunning. Saved by father Ironwreath she has changed her plans to flee the city in the hopes of repaying the man, and faith that saved her.

Being one of the only witnesses left alive of the creatures that stalk the streets she has acted like bait to bring creatures that seem drawn to her into the reach of Garst’s hammer and holy symbol. Together they are both the prey and the priest but their efforts is not enough to stop the encroaching undead.

Thanks for visiting me and my blog tonight. I endeavoured to highlight the current state of our two NPCs this week but to leave room for development. This will be a busy action packed week and I am excited to see what we can make from it. So don’t forget to come back each night for more content. And as always, don’t forget to roll with advantage,

The Dark Prophets

Tuesday brings with it the Dark Prophets of Shar. This ellusive band of zealots believe that Shar to be the true mistress of magic and that her war with the bringers of light will come to an end. What is more disturbing is that they believe that the party are the key to Shar’s victory. But enough of that. To find out more let’s sit down, grab a coffee and let’s roll into this nights NPC introduction!

The Dark Prophets

327TuTDaPr

Now this week is a bit of an interesting one as the person behind the hood can be anyone. There isn’t a specific singular bad guy but many who believe the word of the prophecy to the letter. But this makes them more dangerous as there isn’t a single head of the cult but many.

So tonight I introduce the Dark Prophets, a relatively old group dedicated to spreading the word of Shar and working in the shadows, the darkness if you will, to do her bidding.

The Dark Prophets

Dark Prophet – created in Nightcafe

As the party stared at the person before them several figures dressed in full body lengthy dark robes appeared. Some had a hood to cover most of their face but a few had ornate horrific masks. Each mask depicted the artwork found upon the scroll in front of them. As they pushed through the crowd they stopped a respectful dozen feet away or so and dropped to their knees and began to openly praise Shar. Moments later priests, clerics and holy people from Selune appeared from the temple itself to investigate the gathering just as the light begin to dim.

The congregation of these dark prophets was beginning to dim the light of the sun. A reverberation of energy whirled around the gathering as the combined energy muffled even noise itself. Soon guards appeared and began to try and break up the gathering as the common folk and merchants alike fled from the party and the robed figures. But as soon as one of them was grabbed by a guard each of them vanished in a cloud of darkness.

Normality

Soon normality crept back in with the sun pushing away the darkness. The priests and clerics of Selune chanted a few prayers as they ran down the steps and surrounded the party. The residual dark energy lifted and both light and sound returned as normal.

“You lot. You better come with us. You have some explaining to do” the Guards said to them, hands on weapons as they looked at the scroll that lay on the ground. “Sisters and brothers of Selune. Can you attend us as well. This looks beyond us.”

Thanks for dropping by tonight. While no singular NPCs were identified rest assured as I will have a selection to select from for this weekends writeup. Now while I can’t wait for this adventure to see the light, or dark for that matter, we still have more days to go. So don’t forget to come back each night for more content. Dornsburys Neighbours

Tuesday night brings us to another NPC night where we meet Dornsburys Neighbours and a resident in trouble. Leading the charge into a happy ending Norias asks the party to investigate the happenings but also sings songs of the spirits of the forest that have helped Dornsbury for years. Will the party be able to seek the mercy of the Fae of the forest or will they find themselves at the end of the charge from a satyr? To find out we best sit down, grab a coffee and let’s roll into this nights NPC introduction!

Dornsburys Neighbours

Jasmine & Willow

Jasmine – created in Nightcafe.
Willow – Created in Nightcafe.

Jasmine and Willow are two Fae that once angered a prince of the court. Their crime? Assisting the people of Dornsbury and preventing them from starvation, the punishment for the two twins was to be eternally bound to the trees of the Safthold forest.

The prince promised that they would, through their bindings to their home trees eventually be betrayed by the people they once helped. Humans are an industrious race and their memories of kindness are short so the betrayal would happen eventually as their greed for the woods grew. However Jasmine and Willow both thought that this would not happen and continued to subtly help the people of Dornsbury.

But as of late Willow has been silent. Her tree has begun to show signs of sickness and a darkness has also crept into Willow’s mind. A sickness grows and Jasmine can’t help her beloved sister and oldest friend.

Norias Redcheeks

Norias Redcheeks – Created in Artbreeder.

A resident of Dornsbury, Norias is a strange one. The unusual union of Satyr and a halfling he is a short and merry fellow with some traits of his Fae parent. He is a messenger for the city and a bard who sings the bawdiest songs with the most vigour. High on life and particular for alcohol he is at the centre of any and all celebrations in the village.

However due to his heritage and the recent events he is in a bit of a pickle and has approached the party to not only clear his name but find the culprits of the break ins. He believes the Satyrs of Safthold forest are the cause of it but knows not why.

Thanks for dropping by tonight for another NPC night. Some fun in both artbreeder and nightcafe tonight to produce the portraits and I ma quite happy with how they turned out. But there is much more to come this week so you not forget to come back daily to stay up to date. And as always, don’t forget to roll with advantage,

Destined for Drifting

Another night where I get to play around with NPC portraits and we don’t just explore the Patrons this week, we also explore those destined for drifting. These upper class folk and these vagabonds, well potential vagabonds, have a role each to play this week. So sit down, grab a coffee and let’s roll into this nights NPC introduction!

Destined for Drifting

325TuDeFDr

Mary Fournswallow

Mary Fournswallow – Created in Artbreeder.

Although she rarely travels the roads near Foresithe as a rule Mary finds herself in a predicament. Content with the family home she had lived in for years she hadn’t dreamt of moving to a larger city ever. But with her husbands business booming and the risk of competition and theft rising the decision was made to move to the larger city with the last of wares that they had stored in the old warehouse.

However due to the recent increase in highway robbery and bandits on the road her husband, Teller Fournswallow organised guards to escort the carriage and wagons on the final trip. Despite being loyal to her husband Mary has a weak spot for heroic figures and even vagabond ruffians and is just as likely to flirt as she is to run away when dealing with stressful circumstances.

Harry Panscythe

Harry Panscythe – Created in Artbreeder.

Not an unremarkable fellow Harry appears to be a wealthy yet ordinary man. Clever of wit and observation he seems to know the roads, the people and the towns around Foresithe well. Travelling with a few chests he is making his way to Foresithe to start up a new business after the previous one he had went under. Deciding for a change of scenery he seems unconcerned with the reports of bandits and seems to trust the guards and adventurers he hired to look after the rough spots as long as he gets to his destination safety.

Quick to jump to help people but slow to trust or reveal much Harry shows kindness but shies away when observed doing such acts.

The Drifters

Drifters – created in nightcafe.
Drifters – created in nightcafe.

The reports of drifters usually comes in two forms. Rough looking humans in different scraps of cloth harassing the carriages and wagons and stealing what they can. Or half-beast half-human ravaging the people of the road and leaving none alive to tell the tale. Which is an enigma in itself as where do these tales come from?

Those destined for drifting rarely have a say in their life. They are generally the result of poverty or a calamity of some kind. But one can always attest to their desire to survive and come through hardship.

Thanks for dropping by tonight for another NPC night. It would be pretty obvious plot for those paying attention, especially after the turning point for the highway man. But to confirm it you will have to come back every night. But don’t forget to keep an eye out for other Tabletop materials this week as I play a bit of catchup.
