Bed Bound

A sick noble bed bound and foul play the obvious causation has the party preparing to travel across the kingdom to seek out a cleric of considerable power. But it wont be easy as those who want the noble to stay as he is will go to extraordinary lengths to ensure that the party will fail in their quest.

So let’s grab a coffee, keep your friends close as this week the hunters become the prey!

The second most powerful nobleman Radulas Rustletone has suddenly fallen ill and all attempts to heal him has failed. His family has approached a group of adventurers in secret as they were given a tip that a cleric of Lathander in a city a few days travel by horseback away may be able to cure what has afflicted him. Radulas happens to be second in line to ruling the city of Jostaire with only one other nobleman out-ranking him.

However, dark plots are at play here and there are shadows that move about to delay and even stop the party from reaching their destination, Clarice Brightborn. Will they be able to overcome the league of assassins that stalk them to save the just and noble Radulas or will they fall to the same dark plot as he did.

The man before the party still had the authoritative gaze and presence of the nobleman that he was indeed. However his gaze was just that, a gaze, and despite the best effort of the healers of Jostaire no one had been able to cure him of his affliction. That’s where Kathryn Rustlestone had reached out to the party due to their reputation.

A messenger had come for them, from the church of Lathander a few days travel via horseback away saying that one of their own, Clarice Brightborn, believed she could cure the noble, Radulas Rustlestone, and could raise him from being bed bound. However she believed that she was being targeted and had requested an escort to see the nobleman.

Lady Rustlestone had jumped at the first sign of being able to cure her husband and had reached out to get the very best involved. The pay was as good to be expected, a few years wages for the average commoner, however they had also been promised much more. Titles and land, something that would give them authoritative power and influence in not just this city but many in the kingdom.

‘My husband fell ill about a week ago and within a days cycle he was unable to speak, move or even recognise his family. However one of nobles daughters is a mage and she confirmed that he still thinks and pleads for assistance.’ Kathryn paused to wipe away a tear. ‘We suspect foul play, that is why Clarice is unable to travel by herself as she too is being targeted. The job will not be easy but the rewards are more than enough to compensate. A title, land and gold enough to make something out of both.’

The party looked between the man and his wife. It was obvious that she cared for him greatly and that there was something foul at play here. However despite their own efforts they could not rouse him and it appeared as though this Clarice in another city may be the best bet they have. Radulas was a well off merchant who was influential and powerful enough to be next in line to govern the city if another noble was to step down. Together both families had run the city in prosperity for a number of years. However it was appearing shaky now and the other family was struggling to get motions passed to ensure the success of the city without Radulas there.

‘So will you help us? I heard you were the best and I only wanted those who could actually save my husband.’ Lady Rustlestone pleaded one more time, looking at her husband and squeezing his hand.

Another week has begun and I want to thank you for stopping by to stay up to date on another adventure here on my blog. But don’t forget that I will continue to expand this adventure each day this week so make sure to come back daily. And lastly, as always, don’t forget to roll with advantage,

Ruined Migration

This week the party bear witness to a ruined migration as the legendary megafauna of a kingdom are interrupted in their migration by large burning craters appearing in the valley that they have crossed since the beginning. A mystery to solve, a rare opportunity to bear witness to the birth of a kingdoms system of commerce and a villain who thinks they can get away with it.

So let’s grab a coffee, grab some binoculars and watch the drama unfold!

The rekuldor’s have migrated through the Mascalar valley for centuries and their passing has given birth to the thriving Empire of Musca who’s commerce is solely based on the migration of these large fantastic beasts. However, when a series of fiery craters has appeared it threatens the migration of these creatures and the miracle that their passing gives to the people of Musca.

With the success of the Empire in peril they call to aid, someone to help shepherd the gentle giants and in protecting the creatures, to also uncover the origins of the craters. But as the Empire moves its pieces into play and gold changes hand the same is happening in an opposition to the prosperity of the Empire. Will the hired adventurers be enough to protect the creatures and put a stop to the hostile forces invading the lands?

Mascalar Valley – Created in Nightcafe.

The kingdom of Musca was gearing up to celebration migration season. They had anticipated this event for the last five years and as the last of last migrations supplies were running out it was arriving at an opportune time. As the main city of Musca prepared their artificers, smiths, wagons and workforce in anticipation of the migration of the Rekuldor the scouts of the arm were pushing into the Mascalar valley to secure it and to ensure nothing was wrong.

Emperor Isbolg looked through his stack of paperwork and despite the near dire straits they were heading towards the migration held his empires future in the balance. He and the council had planned it perfectly, nearly to the month of when their supplies of Rekuldorite, a rare durable metallic ore with blue sheen, were to run out. However as the creatures who gave the ore its namesake passed great masses of this ore could be found where they trod.

His sages had investigated it once, the creatures fed upon the rocks, plants and minerals in the Muscalar Valley and some alchemical process took place within their body. Their leavings was this ore, a versatile material that was seen as more precious than gold or platinum but it was more durable than steel. But the creatures only migrated once every ten years and their passing always corresponded with a burst of luck and prosperity for the kingdom.

Their passing, the migration, was a kingdom held secret and they had done well to conceal it for as long as they had. As the Isbolg finished his musings the doors to the office burst open and the leader of his scouts burst in. “My Emperor, the Mascalar valley is in ruins. Pits of fire, craters like something split the earth open litter the valley.” he reported. Taking a deep breath he continued noticing the concern on his lieges face. “It gets worse. The calamity is growing. Each day there are more craters, more fire. I fear that the Migration may be at risk if it continues.” he ended.

Isbolg thought for a moment. “I need to secure the valley, rally the first and second battalions to secure the passages in and out. I will also need something more discrete. Send for the head of the Musca guild – I will need a group of adventurers to come and secure the Rekuldor and ensure their safety. The Dusk Scouts can back them up but I fear that we have spies in the court and that we have enemies trying to stop the migration.” After he was done speaking he summoned his messengers and requested the presence of several people, the last few days leading up to the migration were about to get very busy.

Thanks for visiting tonight for something new. When I asked my youngest what I should write this weeks ‘story’ about he had… a rather vicious telling of death and destruction. Well I am bringing the destruction and hopefully the adventurers and prevent the death part. Man Made Army

Some days its hard to find the right people for the job, let alone to join and army, and that’s where the man made army comes into it. A man made army means you don’t have to employ the perfect people, you create them. But it usually comes with a catch…

So let’s grab a coffee, sit down and put chisel to stone!

There comes a times where the use of magic does not just create a vast leap in warfare, defence, agriculture or learning but it creates an opportunity. The opportunity for greed, or for profit or for both good and evil. The creations that Magnifico spun out of his workshop are such a cautionary tale and the people who searched for his vault are just as bad.

But searching or not the vault has been opened, the creations of the wizard are loose and soon they will be used for great good, or great evil. A band of adventurers stands in the way for opposing forces who only have their greed and desires front of mind.

Magnifico The Crafter – Created in Nightcafe.

The party was unsure why soo many people swarmed around them at the tavern that day. They had just come back from exploring a cave where they found a series of immaculately crafted statues that they brought back to the city and sold for a tidy profit. However it appears that several people considered these statues more than just an art work to display in their manors and houses of people with too many coins and not enough sense.

As they pushed passed horde of people harassing them they were stopped by the city guard. “All right you lot clear off.” one of the guards bellowed over the top of the people nearby. As the people scattered the guards smiled at the party. “Sorry about that, word on the street is that the statue you found was an original Magnifico.” the guard said with a smile that let on that he knew more than he was letting on. “To verify these reports, you’ll have to come with us and for your safety of course”.

The party learnt a great deal more than they had or would ever want to know about the wizard known as Magnifico. Specifically that he was a great craftsman who had created an army of golems which he used around his keep. He has locked away his creations and has refused to tell people where they are. Many have tried to get the information out of him as an army of golems is too valuable of those of noble or malign intent, however all that attempted have not not been successful and his rumoured power has been proven many times.

But with these statues being revealed in a place so inconspicuous as where they were found it could only mean one thing, the wizard had a vault near by and, potentially, the rumoured golem army could be within. People will be dying to find out the caves location as anyone who desired power, or could use an army, would be after them. The guards offered the party a job from the king who was preparing his forces to march on a neighbouring country. Bring him the golems and retire comfortably for life, ignoring the fact of hundreds of peoples lives being lost and it could be a pretty sweet deal. However, there were others who looked at the party with hungry eyes.

Thanks for visiting tonight for something that may sound familiar. Hoping to have a familiar hook compared to something I completed earlier this year but with a different twist involved with this one, mostly. Supply Run

It should come to no ones surprise that sometimes in life a supply run is required to get through to the next week. Whether you’re running to get rations for the next few weeks, ammunition for the defence of a keep or fresh water to supply the rest of your caravan the supply run hook is something that happens often.

So let’s saddle up, grab a coffee and go in search of a lengthy supply list!

The supplies are running low, dangerously slow and in a last ditch attempt a small band head out to find food, arrows and other key supplies to keep their operation continuing. However, as with any quest where both a small fortune of gold and an actual fortune of supplies is on the line it tends to catch the eye of those looking for a meal ticket.

Although not all is lost as the party stride onwards through the dusty plains of the Fester Plateau; a vast stretch of flat terrain amongst the rocky mountains. With the experience these adventurers brought there is surely nothing that would pose a problem for them, surely…

Chasm of Fester – Created in Nightcafe.

Try as they might the party could not prevent the hooves of their horses from kicking up a dust storm that rolled through the winding chasm before them. The Chasm of Fester is what the locals called this place, a sight of an unholy battle between good and evil that corrupted and destroyed the natural beauty of these plains.

Now only the strongest or smartest survived in these parts and the lands reflected this fact. Rocks jutted from the dirt dominated plain at the bottom of the large chasm. Sporadic coarse grass clung between the rocks as they found the only source of moisture in this land. Locals moved their herds through the chasm and all of them had hawks or other birds that would shriek when something approached.

As the party moved through the locals cautiously allowed them to approach but their hands never strayed too far from their bows or blades. After a few minutes of talking their posture relaxed and they provided direction to the party, highlighting where the city that they were heading towards was. But they also warned them of the roving bands of savage humanoids as well as rumours of a large wyvern flying over the chasm.

Parting with the herders they moved onwards keeping an eye to the ground for dust clouds and another to the sky, looking for shadows in the harsh sun. The only respite from the sun came from the walls of the chasm as the sun moved onwards it created a great shadow the plunged half of the plains in cooling shade. But they could not rest for long as they had a quest, a mission, they needed to reach the City of Orchreweld to get supplies of food and water as well as sundries, such as ammunition.

If there was a large wyvern in the area then having additional arrows may be needed sooner than anticipated.

Thanks for visiting tonight for the first in what I hope to be a series which can integrate with the campaign hook, The Bleak. But this can be used with any adventure as its not uncommon for supplies to be damaged, expended or lost on an adventure and in these cases requesting members of the convoy, party or keep may be what is needed. Don’t forget that tomorrow night I will expand this with, hopefully, some colourful NPCs for the party to meet with. Oh, and as always, don’t forget to roll with advantage,

Silent Treatment

When your significant other, or just anyone in your life for that matter, gives you the silent treatment you know something has really gone wrong for you. But what happens when its your deity and where that treatment has spread across the whole village you live in and for everyone within its boundaries.

So let’s slow down, grab a coffee maybe some flowers and try to make amends with higher powers!

Quiet is a word that none would have expected to describe Chauntea let alone the devout followers within Sunleaf Village. However, a silence has washed over the village and the clerics have had to save their remaining blessings, healings and divine spells as they are unable to replenish them each night as their pleas to their goddess have fallen on deaf ears.

Although that’s what they think. Darker powers are at play and a spectral figure has been seen amongst the thatched and tiled roofs of Sunleaf village. What they need is not just help, nor the divine intervention that they are hoping for but the kind of miracles that come with strangers looking to stay the night in the village on their way through.

Silent Treatment

Sunleaf Village – Created in Nightcafe.

As the party encouraged their horses to plod along the last few minutes to the inn they gazed at the village at night. Neat and tidy houses of farmers greeted them amongst the dark silhouette of the village in its entirety. A large steeple, likely a church to a deity that looked over the village could be seen towering above the houses and in the distance warehouses for storing farm produce.

Sunleaf village was, as the houses and buildings indicated, a farming village that provided a significant amount of produce for the capital. Its beasts were regarded as being some of the best in the land when it came to its draft horses, oxen and sheep.

As the party saw their destination, the Silver bucket, they led their horses to the adjoined stables and ensured that their horses were secured with feed and water. As they entered the cosy inn they were greeted by a smiling halfling with halfmoon glasses. “Good evening travellers. I’m sorry we’ve just finished with much of the hot meals but we still have food available. Rooms are 1 gold piece a head but it includes meals and we’ve got a stable hand that can see to any beasts needs if you’ve got them in the stable.” the man said as he leaned across the desk at them.

“The names Harry, Harry Hastebee. What brings you to Sunleaf viallge?” Harry asked as he placed a plate of warm roast vegetables and some mutton in gravy in front of them. “I best warn ye though. Try not to get hurt unless you’ve got your own healer. The clerics of Chauntea’s church have run dry.” he said as he poured the party a drink of wine of ale, all locally made.

“They say the goddess has gone mute, or gone deaf to our pleas. One of them, I can’t keep up with what they are saying. Any way, look after yourself and try not to go outdoors too late – rumour is that there’s something spooking the village folk in the city at the moment.” Harry continued as he moved about the room. “Lucky we have a songstress in the church, some of her magic isn’t given by the gods so we aren’t defenceless, but its not looking good. The parent church in the capital said they would send some clerics to come and help but they are yet to arrive. Strange and scary times I tell ya.”

Harry excused himself as another visitor walked in, a young man who was carrying a box of vegetables with him. “If you lot need anything I’ll be in the larder. Give a holler and I’ll be with you in a moment. Young Jason just brought some fresh vegetables for tomorrow and I best look after him first.” Harry called out as he led the way for the man, Jason, into the kitchens.

The Queens Palanquin

Once a year on the queens birthday she opens the doors to the castle to receive gifts from her nobles and well wishers alike. However she never keeps them and instead she uses the gifts to bolster the coffers of the kingdom so that she can alleviate taxes for her people and provide support to them. She is a popular queen because of this but not everyone agrees with her methods.

So let’s sit down, grab a coffee watch the procession of well-wishers!

Queen Maribeth has always been beloved by her people and its not just the way that she rules the kingdom or her beauty but by how she supports them out of the kingdoms coffers. She never asks for taxes or tithes but instead uses what she receives from other kingdoms, nobles and well wishers on her birthday to fund the coffers for the next year.

However, not everyone thinks well of the queen and her methods in funding the kingdom. With her life in peril and the party hired to protect her will they rise to the occasion and protect a beloved monarch or will they fail and be held accountable for more than just failing a job, but failing a kingdom.

The Queens Palanquin

The Queens Palanquin – Created in Nightcafe.

Queen Maribeth glanced over at the extra guards on the stairs to her palanquin and sighed. Her guard had received intel that this year there will be an attempt on her life, but none can say where, when or how just that it will happen. Despite her men warning her Maribeth still decided to go ahead with the normal festivities and opened the doors to her castle once again to receive donations and gifts from nobles vying for power, visiting royalty and dignitaries who come to pay respects and any well wisher who wants to give her a gift.

As for the majority of her reign she looked forward not just to this day but using the gifts, small or large, to support her people, the common folk, merchants and labourers of the Kiptaken kingdom instead of taking taxes she uses her own funds. A large portion of her funds comes from the sale or trading of gifts that are given to her and rarely does she keep anything.

As she looked and thanked the latest well wishers, nobles from her own kingdom who’s people would benefit from their generosity she smiled and allowed the mercenaries acting as her personal guards to allow them to approach her. Taking the hand woven bag that was filled with gems and jewels from their mines she thanked them for their generosity and handed it to her chief guard to confirm there to be nothing dangerous about the gifts.

This had been the norm for the day and it slowed the process down as each item was investigated before put into an open chest near by. The chest itself was enchanted to hold hundreds of times more space than what would normally fit. Her wizards had explained to her that it was much like a bag of holding, a traditional magical item that was sought after those who pursued adventuring.

“The bag itself was a gift from one of our vassals.” the lord said proudly. “Hand woven from across the sea using local materials. I believe its made from Lamia hair if I am not mistaken.” he said with a bow. Maribeth smiled and thanked the man, the mercenaries had already assessed no weapons were concealed on any of her well wishers so far and she the thanked them again as her head guard placed the bag in the chest.

“I am sure that it will continue to make your vassal proud as it assists the kingdom. I think you again Sir Roderick for your families continual support.” she said with a smile at the man and his wife. “Do come for a visit once this month has quietened d…” she was cut off as a sound like ripping fabric burst forth from the chest. Within a moment there was an explosion of energy and magic as a shimmering rift of green energy opened up before the queen and her procession of gift givers.

A force so powerful that the chest imploded sending the entire contents so far tumbling into the shimmering green curtain before it snatched at the resplendent palanquin and a heartbeat later, the queen. As the force took hold The queen, her guard, half the throne and the chest of gifts were snatched up and pulled through the shimmering curtain of energy before it disappeared showing a scene of destruction.

The panic that ensued as guards launched at Sir Roderick and his family to restrain them as the party, the mercenaries who were hired to protect the queen looked over the scene of the crime. An astral portal had materialised and ripped the queen through its shimmering curtain, taking her and her head guard into the beyond.

Their job had failed as without proper guidance or knowledge of the plane the queen would never find her way out. The party would find themselves held accountable for the loss of the kingdoms ruler and, likely, never find work in this land again as they would be known as the guards who failed the Queen.

Thanks for visiting tonight for another week of adventure. Tomorrow I will introduce the queen and a few other people in more details so you wont want to forget to come back tomorrow. Whispers in the Roots

This week we delve into the party being hired to investigate the reported whispers in the roots of Parsh Forest as the tensions of local villages and towns runs high. Something dark is mustering within the trees and the party are here to save the day, well night.

So let’s sit down, grab a coffee and torches and let’s investigate tonight’s adventure!

Something dark dwells within the Parsh Forest as reports of people going missing, cloaked figures disappearing in plain sight and hulking figures walking between the trunks of trees, watching those who dare travel through the roads. The local guard and militia are too scared to go into the forest due to the reports.

A call for aid has been issued for anyone brave enough to unravel what’s happening within the forest and to put a stop to it. But, there is more than mere sightings of strange creatures to contend with as the adventurers, nay heroes will soon discover.

Parsh Forest – Created in Nightcafe.

The Parsh forest is a place that has fed and sustained the surrounding villagers for decades. However, lately only dark rumours and missing people have been coming out of the forest. As the party sat and listened to the rumours of the forest and what the villagers have seen at night the wilder the stories became.

“I saw it, I swears it. A creature with two heads as tall as a tree walked across the road in front of me. The horse screamed and before I could stop er’ she bolted past the creature and all the way here.” one merchant said between drawing on is pipe and filling the area with the pungent smoke. “I’ll tells you this for free. The forest is cursed. I’m planning on leaving, packing up shop and heading in the other direction.”

“My daughter went missing.” a woman broke her silence watching the man with disdain. “Gone. Her blue ribbon that she tied her hair up with was found snagged on a tree branch a few feet into the woods but that was the only sign the local hunters could find.” she said, emotion broiling just beneath the surface before she hurried herself away.

Seven children had been taken and one unlucky hunter hadn’t returned after searching the forest for his sister. The parents, grandparents or carers of the children had approached the party and described the children that had gone missing. No commonalities except they all lived in the forests near the woods. Boys, girls, young and older had all gone missing with the hunters having not found anything within the forest.

That was until the party asked the hunters who were getting more drunk as the night and conversations went on. “Go into the forest? You mad? You’ll die in there. That’s why I never,” one paused to hiccup, “I never went in. I just told them I did.” he blurted out. The other hunters near by gestured him to be quiet and shushed him but it was too late. All of them revealed that they were too scared to go deep into the forest for fear of their own lives.

There was one person that wasn’t present tonight, an old hermit who was rumoured to have elven blood in his veins. Older than many parents of those present he had kept a history of the forest and the villages but in his growing age his stories became more jumbled and the truth harder to separate from folk tales.

The whispers in the roots of Parsh forest call the party to action this week much like I call you back each night. Thanks for visiting tonight but don’t forget that this is just the beginning of the adventures ahead. Tomorrow I will be introducing the hermit and you wont want to forget what he has to tell the party. And finally, as always, don’t forget to roll with advantage,

Anzia’s Pen

This week we investigate the the breakout at Anzia’s Pen, a noble’s daughter who’s pet broke out of the pen it was housed in. Except this pen was well made, sturdy and the wreckage left behind hints that something about this is off.

So let’s sit down, grab a coffee and let’s search for clues in tonight’s adventure!

Owning a pet is hard for children regardless if they are look after it themselves or have someone looking after the creatures on their behalf. But when this pet goes missing and rumours of a monster are flooding into the city the party is called in to be discrete in returning a nobles pet before someone makes a mistake.

In a race against time the party search for the missing pet of Anazia, the nobleman’s daughter, which smashed through a door to escape its pen. Can they find it before it gets itself into trouble. Meanwhile stock, pets and even a beggar are rumoured to have been taken by a monster that is roaming the streets. Could the two be connected? What type of pet can smash through a door like that and what roams the streets?

Anzia’s Pen

Anzia’s Pen – Created in Nightcafe.

The left the nobleman’s house after taking a job to investigate a missing pet. It’s not that they were short on gold or starting out new but there was something about this that seemed too good to be true. And sure enough the nobleman was indeed offering one hundred gold pieces to find his daughters missing pet with the guarantee that no one else saw the pet, that it was done discretely and fast.

A servant walked in front of them showing them to where the pet was kept. They were on the outskirts of a small city, not walled and as protected as a major city but it had a few ramparts and towers watching out around the neighbouring lands. They were in a kingdom controlled province where the king and queens soldiers patrolled the lands and kept it safe so there wasn’t a standing army here.

A few guards waved at them as they past gate to the stables and were moved towards the side of a stone building, crafted from big slabs of granite and bound with a clay mortar that looked sturdy enough to weather what ever came this way. However when they saw where they were heading they slowed down in their pace. A large amount or rubble lay on the ground. Shards of cracked wood lay on the ground amongst some clay covered stone which had fallen from the building.

A large double door had its lock burst outwards with evidence of either axes or swords having smashed through the door. However as they moved closer, the servant stopping a dozen feet away from the door, they notices that the blade marks had come from the inside. What ever had broken this door had chopped and hacked at it from the inside outwards.

Inside a large mount of straw lay scattered around with a water trough, saddle for the horses and small sticks scattered about the room. What ever had been in here was long gone but it appeared to be a large cat of judging by the hair, the musty smell and claw marks on the wooden beams, the stone and the inside of the door. Either someone had tried to break their way out of the pen or the creature had itself.

What made matters worse was that they had missed out on a job to investigate rumours of a monster before accepting this one. A large creature had reportedly been seen attacking a beggar in the city. No one had found the body but there was enough blood to suggest a serial killer or something like a dragon, were wolf or something monstrous.

Several flocks had been attacked, mainly sheep had been taken but a guard dog had been mauled and left to die near where its flock had been taken. A reward had been put out and of course the local guild had monopolised the reward as quickly as possible. The nobleman who’s daughter, Aniza, had discovered her pet gone seemed to be concerned that their pet could be mistaken for the monster and killed. This had of course raised concerns and questions but the man had assured that the pet was innocent.

Regardless of the truth something was going on here and the pay was starting to look trivial compared to the amount of work required in the job.

Missing Luggage

This week we have missing luggage causing a fuss in the city of Karaol. However this is no ordinary missing suitcase of a noblewoman’s fine clothes this luggage, a bag in question, is a prison for a demonic army and the seals are wearing thin. Well don’t just sit there, grab a coffee to go, scoop up your bed rolls and let’s rush off to find this bag!

Theft in the city of Karaol has the party searching for the thieves responsible for stealing another adventurer’s bag, the contents of the bag? A prison to a legion of demons. The party needs to find the saddlebag and return it to their fellow adventurer before it’s too late.

The party waved farewell to Bruce, the half-orc tavern keeper who always had a room for them in Karoal as they left towards to the stables to retrieve the horses they would need for their journey. Birds sang out above them as they made good time down the streets, they were well known by now by the people in the city their good deeds having spread out far and wide by now.

As they approached Tudric, the stablemaster he waved them over to several fine horses. “Ah my friends, good morning. I had a feeling that you would be joining me early today so I have fed and watered the horses that you requested. I have all your saddlebags ready to go and on the horses with a feed back each to ensure good travel and healthy beasts.” he smiled and clasped their hands firmly. “It’s the least I could do after you rescued my daughter all those months ago.” he added referring to a previous adventure they had taken.

As they checked over their horses, and moving some saddlebags around to ensure they were grouped correctly, they started to head towards the city gate after paying and bidding farewell to Tudric and his daughter. As they neared the gate out of the city the sound of thundering hoofbeats caught up to them. It was Bruce, from the tavern. “Thank the gods that I caught up with you. Fylaine has called for aid, she is missing an artefact and believes its been stolen. If you can spare a day or two to help find out the guild and church won’t forget your assistance.” he blurted out before breathing hard.

Upon returning to the Tavern, the Three Fingered Drake Fylaine, a famous paladin from both the church and the major adventuring guild, was present. “Thank you for coming back to my aid.” she began looking worried. “I am missing the Prison of Gesig, a modified bag of holding that I was transporting to the church of Selune to complete the re-sealing rites.” she looked around the room ensuring that the tavern was empty.

“It’s a prison, one that holds a small legion of demons that was trapped in an ageless slumber several centuries ago. When I went to check that the bag was still where I left it I found that the bag had been replaced. It looks like a normal leather bag but its clasp is that of a brown bear.” she stopped to look from one to the other. “I have asked the guards to check the bags of those leaving the city since early this morning and when Bruce told me you were on your way out on a quest I wondered if I could broker your aid to search for the bag.”

“It’s extremely valuable to the wrong people and in the right peoples hands it would’ve been re-sealed and dormant for the next few years. However, the seal only has a week at best left before its fully broken. A quasit broke out of the bag on the way to Karoal and I suspect that it was lucky to shake off he charms that are present on the bag. Will you help me find the prison before we have a legion of demons loose in the city? The church is aware and are searching for it bug, they can only tell that its in the city and have not been able to pin-point its location yet.”

The Raging Storm

This week the adventure takes a dangerous and wild turn as the raging storm that started in the sea has made landfall and continues to rage across the land beyond. However, it does not act like other storms and has moved straight inland and towards a major city.

With a unprecedented disaster coming towards the party what can they hope to do? So let’s grab a coffee, read up on our nature books and let’s go storm chasing in tonight’s adventure!

As a massive storm system targets large cities the king has decreed a war against nature. However it not as easily done as said and the storm rages on despite the best effort of his court mages and clerics. Surely a broader call for aid not will produce heroes that can turn a blade even against the heavens themselves?

But as the call goes out the storm shows no sign in slowing down as it approaches Plentura, the great walled bastion. Will the adventurers, the heroes that have been called to point their blade towards the heavens themselves have a chance at cutting down the storm itself or will the real enemy show its face in time, something more tangible and mortal.

The Raging Storm – created in Nightcafe.

The wind was the first sign that something was wrong. A gale blue across the plains causing the stalks of wheat to bend and twist as the wind snatched at the grains and leaf. The animals moved hurriedly towards what ever shelters they could find, several retreating to the safety of the trees and some to the barns, stables and shelters that the humans had built for them.

However the wind pulled at the trees and lashed out at the structures that had been build upon the land. Thatching and tiles where ripped from the roof in a moment as the wind washed over them. But the wind merely heralded the true storm. The first of the hail stones hit upon stone, mountain and earth but their allies smashed through crop, trees and structure leaving a great rift of destruction that spread across the land.

In its path after the hail and rain had passed were the survivors and the wounded. The hail had reached the size of fists and had bludgeoned many to death as it had crashed through. Those who had sought shelter deeper in residence or mountains were spared the bludgeoning but the water rose quickly and they not had to worry about being to deep.

The wind had picked up again blowing the storm towards the capital, Plentura, and the raging storm was showing no signs of slowing down. Soon messengers of both beast and man were arriving in the capital and warning of the storm approaching. Word spread to the mad king of the plight of his subjects and in his wrath he declared war against the storm. Calling his knights, vassals and mages to go lay waste to the storm and to strike it down for defiling his country he truly expected to be sated.

However when the knights returned bruised and bludgeoned and the mages exhausted it seemed defeating natures judgement, this raging storm was going to be no task his mere subjects could hope to achieve. He sent out for word for adventurers needed for an urgent quest, a reward, ten thousand gold pieces for those who could slay the beast that was stalking his lands. Many arrived and quickly left unwilling or, more than likely, unable to take the job of besting the storm.

However there were a few who claimed they could do it.

A big one this week inspired by the current wild weather that my home state is going through at the moment. Turning a blade against nature never quite works well but this week we have stepped it up a notch to signal spring in for this month. So don’t forget to come back each day this week as we expand this adventure daily. And, as always, don’t forget to roll with advantage,
