Ruesford Manor

Welcome to a Thursday night where we get to look at the top layers of Ruesford Manor. But what’s this? a secret staircase leading down. What lies in the dark under the manor? I guess that’s pretty easy to guess if you’ve been following along with the other posts this week. But instead of talking about it let’s sit back, grab a coffee and delve in!

Ruesford Manor

This week we had a manor investigation, a secret room and what looks to be a house big enough for several people – but only one reported person lives there. Complete with a few locked wardrobes, a locked chest and a secret stairway hidden by a bookcase secret door.

The secret door is triggered by the statue, in this version, in the same room (top left of the map). There is obvious discoloration where the bookcase on the wall (next to stairs) swings to meet the vertical aligned bookcase to reveal stairs down.

The main entrance has a larger sitting room on the left with chairs and a fireplace. Opposite is a guest quarters with a bookcase, wardrobe, bed and a sitting desk. The kitchen is central to the house with a bedroom for a servant or maid. And a kids room nearby. Stairs lead to the main bedroom above the servants quarters too.

The kids room is accessible by the centre of the house but the door is locked. Toys and kids clothes populate this room but little else. The dining room leads to the study where the secret room can be found.

Thanks for dropping in to look at another map created in Inkarnate. I get unsure about creating houses and urban battle maps as they seem to be go one of two ways for me. In fact they either go poorly or “I guess this will do”. But this week I think I did well and so am pleased with how it turned out. Don’t forget to come back the next few days as we wrap up this weeks adventure. And as always, don’t forget to roll with advantage,

Deities Act Through Prophets

This Wednesday we get a glimpse further into the dark prophets and confirm that Deities act through prophets. Will the party unwillingly become the pawns for some greater power or will they fight for their own destiny. To begin to answer that question we best sit down, grab a coffee and roll into tonight’s adventure.

The feather quill made from a hippogriff feather scratched noisily away at the parchment scroll in front of her. As the ink flowed from the feather quill the same images appeared in her mind. Faces of now familiar people, certain clothing in a certain pose but this time the surrounding elements were different. The last scroll she was bid to create had them fighting against holy warriors of Selune but this one was a stark contrast. In fact this one had those same warriors healing and showing mercy to those warriors as they welcomed them into Sharโ€™s fold.

The images flew unbidden and with an urgency that she could nearly taste. The level of detail and the need to have this created exactly as the image was in her mind nearly caused physical pain. But as she scribed down, coloured in the scroll with different inks the image came to life.

Relief and the unmistakable sense of reward and pleasure rushed through her nerves and she was rewarded by her goddess. It had been a long time since she had questioned the will of Shar but the rewards she was given, the power she felt coursing through her veins was enough to even hide her guilt at misleading her followers. They didnโ€™t need to know that the prophecy was the work of her and a quill. Shar had a plan and she was her instrument.

Thoughts

This week is about deception and cunning. Shar has been planning take overs for years in the lore and so this week I wanted to bring that to life.

Thanks for joining me for another night at my tabletop. Don’t forget that the next few nights will seal the deal on this scroll so you don’t want to miss out. And as always, don’t forget to roll with advantage,

The Dark Prophets

Tuesday brings with it the Dark Prophets of Shar. This ellusive band of zealots believe that Shar to be the true mistress of magic and that her war with the bringers of light will come to an end. What is more disturbing is that they believe that the party are the key to Shar’s victory. But enough of that. To find out more let’s sit down, grab a coffee and let’s roll into this nights NPC introduction!

The Dark Prophets

327TuTDaPr

Now this week is a bit of an interesting one as the person behind the hood can be anyone. There isn’t a specific singular bad guy but many who believe the word of the prophecy to the letter. But this makes them more dangerous as there isn’t a single head of the cult but many.

So tonight I introduce the Dark Prophets, a relatively old group dedicated to spreading the word of Shar and working in the shadows, the darkness if you will, to do her bidding.

The Dark Prophets

Dark Prophet – created in Nightcafe

As the party stared at the person before them several figures dressed in full body lengthy dark robes appeared. Some had a hood to cover most of their face but a few had ornate horrific masks. Each mask depicted the artwork found upon the scroll in front of them. As they pushed through the crowd they stopped a respectful dozen feet away or so and dropped to their knees and began to openly praise Shar. Moments later priests, clerics and holy people from Selune appeared from the temple itself to investigate the gathering just as the light begin to dim.

The congregation of these dark prophets was beginning to dim the light of the sun. A reverberation of energy whirled around the gathering as the combined energy muffled even noise itself. Soon guards appeared and began to try and break up the gathering as the common folk and merchants alike fled from the party and the robed figures. But as soon as one of them was grabbed by a guard each of them vanished in a cloud of darkness.

Normality

Soon normality crept back in with the sun pushing away the darkness. The priests and clerics of Selune chanted a few prayers as they ran down the steps and surrounded the party. The residual dark energy lifted and both light and sound returned as normal.

“You lot. You better come with us. You have some explaining to do” the Guards said to them, hands on weapons as they looked at the scroll that lay on the ground. “Sisters and brothers of Selune. Can you attend us as well. This looks beyond us.”

Thanks for dropping by tonight. While no singular NPCs were identified rest assured as I will have a selection to select from for this weekends writeup. Now while I can’t wait for this adventure to see the light, or dark for that matter, we still have more days to go. So don’t forget to come back each night for more content. And as always, don’t forget to roll with advantage,

Herald of Prophecy

Welcome to the start of another week and welcome to another night at my tabletop where I act as the Herald of Prophecy. Well at least for this adventure any way. This week we look at what if the Party, our saviours and the heroes of our story are actually the heroes of all stories… Intrigued? Well we best sit down, grab a coffee and read about this weeks adventure!

Prophecy of Champions – Created in nightcafe

The adventurers were beginning to get used to their new found fame. After many successful adventures they had earnt a name for themselves and were now reaping the benefits. Many store owners granted them discounts and it was becoming rarer where they had to pay for lodgings, food and drink. Frequently people are more than willing to shout at them their lodgings and food.

However their fame could not prepare them for what greeted them at the steps of a temple to Selune, the goddess of the moon.

โ€œBehold, the children of prophecy walk amongst us! The Mistress of the night has blessed us all with the presence of her champions! Those who would cast down the false gods of light and bring upon the true power of darkness. The scroll of the goddess of darkness and night, The Shard of Shar itself has revealed to us these adventurers, these heroes of darkness as our saviours from the tyranny of light!โ€ the near crazed hooded man preached as he pointed towards the party. In his hand was a scroll where the edges of the paper were as dark as night.

Leaning closer to look at the scroll a scene depicted warriors of Shar beating, slaughtering several holy champions of Pelor, Selune and Mystra. But something caught the eye of the party. The warriors of Shar, clad in the light drinking plate and cloth of the deity of night, were none other than themselves.

Several others in the city looked between the parchment and the heroes they were praising and a murmur rippled through the crowd. Were they the prophesied bringers of eternal night and the damnation of light? Something wasnโ€™t right at the foot of the temple of the moonโ€ฆ

Thoughts

Now as party’s grow stronger and acquire not just wealth but influence and power they gain a level of herodom that gives them certain benefits. I have constructed this adventure to teach them that fame and fortune is not all its meant to be and that there is a dark side to the moon itself.

Thanks for joining me for the start of another week and boy is this one going to be exciting. Another big week ahead with another adventure on the way. This coming week we will see a mystery unravelled, a prophecy come to light, well darkness, and the party maybe learning a lesson. But don’t trust my word on it alone. In fact you better not forget to come back daily to continue this adventure along with me. And, as always, don’t forget to roll with advantage,

The Source of Revelry

Tonight and I have created some more content for the zine for this weeks adventure, The Source of Revelry. This adventure can be used system agnostic as we explore other RPGs out there other than D&D. So please adjust to what ever creatures you are using in your adventure! However as always Kobold fight club can be used to quickly balance an encounter for Dungeons and Dragons and Tetra-cube currently provides the stat-blocks for creatures in this adventure.

So I hope you enjoy this weeks adventure, The Source of Revelry. If you like this format please let me know and I hope you enjoy.

Dornsbury

Dornsbury streets – created in Nightcafe.

The town of Dornsbury has a long and intertwined connection with the Fey of Safthold forest. Early when the town was trying to take root and make something of the harsh land around it the people were failing. The land they were trying to grow their crops in was not fit, the materials they had brought to build a new village were too few or rotten why they got there. Extinction of the village looked like the only option even before it truly began. However two fey from the woods approached them and helped the settlers. Giving them some trees of the forest under the promise they would not take more than they needed.

Soon the people began to settle in and they gave thanks to the fey of the forest.

To this day they have kept their bargain and give thanks to the creatures and the two fey that saved them. However it seems like something has changed within the forest. The village has begun to be raided and every night a new business or house is ransacked with the food and drink taken and the insides ruined beyond salvation.

Finnegans Tavern

Entering the tavern they were greeted by three things. Firstly, the presence of many city guards in the room, some talking to an older man behind the bar, some moving around the inn. Secondly, The sheer amount of broken bottles, chairs, stoops and even tables that were being piled into the middle of the room by the guards and a few helpers, including what appeared to be a half-fey. And lastly, the pungent smell of alcohol and vomit that seemed to come from not only the floors but the walls and ceiling too.

Whatever had gone on here the night before was going to be a massive clean-up.

Friends of the Fey

Welcome to another Saturday where this update I provide further creatures to add more variety into our adventure. These friends of the fey So sit back, grab a coffee and let’s meet the snow fox!

Friends of the Fey

326SaFrOTFe

Friends of the Fey – Satyr Warhorn

Preferring melee to ranged combat these warriors are more heavily armoured than their lesser kin. They are also stronger and slightly bigger than their other Satyr kin. Driven to attack in frenzied bouts they charge into combat, ramming their targets before slashing at them with their short blade.

This makes short work of their opponents normally but they are far from their tricks and being savvy in combat is something that they pride themselves on.

Satyr Warhorn – created in Tetra-cube.

Satyr Swifthoof

Unlike the Satyr Warhorn the Satyr Swifthoof are thinner, lither and pride themselves in sudden volleys of targeted arrows that bring down their target. Preferring to be stealthy they typically hide to the edges of combat and launch volleys of arrows. Rarely do they willingly go into combat but if they need to they will.

Satyr Swifthoof – created in Tetra-cube.

Thanks for visiting tonight for more content. Tomorrow we look to expand a bit more on the adventure as well as wrap it up with the Zine. So don’t forget to come back tomorrow for the end of week writeup. And lastly as always, don’t forget to roll with advantage,

The Dryads Raiders

Welcome to another Fight-night where tonight we look at The Dryads Raiders. This week we look at quantity over Quality Satyrs march to Dornsbury. But that’s not all this week as like last weekend I will have a surprise. So sit back, grab a coffee and let’s look at some creatures!

The Dryads Raiders

326FrTDrRa

Satyr

Fast of foot, not very strong or durable the Satyr is an interesting enemy. Resistant to magical effects having a horde of these guys to contend with will make cutting them down a bit harder. However the volley of arrows will likely do the trick

Between 15 and 16 of these creatures will join the fray, All will loose a volley of arrows before a few go to engage in melee with the party to try and pin them down. Drawn to violence in their drunken states these creatures will be a bit slow to realise that the yare in danger before its too late. Being the core of the dryads raiders these creatures should be a fun component.

Satyr – created in Tetra-cube

Dryad – Willow

Now while we have the Satyr being the dryads raiders the dryad herself will be standing back and using her magical abilities to try and entangle the opponents. More importantly the ability to charm humanoids and beasts can protect her from some damage. Her Satyr allies will not attack a charmed creature but instead will call out to it for aid trying to sew confusion in the the party. This with the other surprises coming will make for a fun adventure.

Dryad (Willow) – created in Tetra-cube

Thanks for visiting tonight. Now that the weekend is here you can’t forget to set aside some time for your tabletop. Continuing and making progress on your hobby helps sustain the momentum behind it. This momentum will drive you to complete more and at a sustained pace. So don’t forget to keep setting time aside for it. And as always, don’t forget to roll with advantage,

The Town of Dornsbury

Welcome to a Thursday night where we get a glimpse of one of the maps coming this weekend, The Town of Dornsbury. As we prepare for another end of the week we need to be prepared for more adventure. So let’s instead sit back, grab a coffee and look at the town of Dornsbury!

The Town of Dornsbury

326ThTToODo

The town itself is situated in a small island formed by river. This has given the town a natural defence against dangers for quite a long time however its not perfect.

Mainly humans live in Dornsbury village centre with many other smaller houses scattered to the North West and south west. To the southwest a large swath of the Safthold forest was initially cleared for farmland and housing but there has been a law against cutting down more of the forest for many years. This hasn’t abated the rage and anger of some of the denizens of the forest but there is rarely an incident between the people of the woods and of Dornsbury. Until now that is.

Dornsbury – created in Inkarnate

Another week and another map. I find myself enjoying these overworld maps as they give a perspective of scale. However I plan to bring some more maps for battle this weekend so keep an eye out for that. So don’t forget to come back the next few nights to see the adventure in full. And as always, don’t forget to roll with advantage,

Heart of Revelry

For this weeks twisty Wednesday its not as much as twist as an expansion of the story as we uncover the Heart of Revelry. Yesterday we met some individuals that we were introduced to briefly and for the most part this continues on the adventure with one of them. But instead of hinting on it let’s look at part of the adventure that I have planned to reveal tonight. So sit down, grab a coffee and let’s roll into tonight’s adventure.

Heart of Revelry

326WeHeORe

The party followed the shouts and whoops that echoes through the trunks of the trees and bounced from the canopy of leaves. The flickering light of a fire caused shadows to dance on the trunks of the trees and between the bushes. As they approached the source of the noise and the light a manic sight greeted them.

Dozens of Satyr were dancing around a fire in a clearing. Bottles, flasks and jugs of alcohol were being consumed in vast quantities as the Fae revelled wildly. Several of the Fae carried weapons, short swords, spears and short bows with quivers filled with arrows as their frenzied celebration escalated further.

Then a great hush fell across the revellers as groups of them fell silent. A solitary figure strode from a tree, another fae creature for sure but this one appeared to be a beautiful woman with flowers and leaves braided through her hair.

The Corruption of Willow

โ€œBrothers and Sisters,โ€ the woman began in common before her words drifted into a different tongue which, luckily, a party member spoke. โ€œWe have begun striking back at those that would harm our forest and our kind. The humans, the people of the village can not be trusted as their words are like poison that festers the roots of our forest. For many years we have aided them and kept them alive. But for what!? They still hunt the creatures we call friends, they still tear down our trees and our woods for their own selfish reason! No more!โ€ As she spoke the flowers and leaves in her hair wilted and a darkness spread across her eyes.

โ€œI say we finish what we started. We have taken their reason to celebrate. Their crops they grow their alcohol from were planted in what was once our land. Their food is our friends, the creatures of these woods and the bounty of our good will. Next we take back the first thing we gave them in friendship. Next we take their lives!โ€

As her speech came to a crescendo the satyr whooped and cheered, blowing into horns and practically bleating for bloodshed. As they rushed from the fire towards the village the party realised with sickening quickness. They were in the path between the marauders and the village.

Thanks for joining me for another as we witness the beginning of the final part of this adventure. The beginning of a bloody battle or a heroic tale of bravery and mercy. The party will need to decide how to handle it but for one it will be their end regardless. Don’t forget to come back daily for more tabletop content and as always, don’t forget to roll with advantage,
