Dresmandae’s Tower Map

Thursday night is here and tonight I bring the Dresmandae’s Tower Map! The Tower itself is simple, but how its used may be a bit difficult. But, more on that tomorrow for the encounter! So let’s roll onto tonight’s map, the four stories of the varied tower and into tonight’s adventure!

Dresmandae’s Tower Map

317ThDrToMa

The tower of Dresmandae is a bit of a tricky one. Each level of the tower can be flipped horizontally or vertically to have something similar but different. The first floor will stay the same, a open space initial with perhaps bookcases and a chair within. A room on the right, dark due to no windows or candles but able to be filled with beds, tables or what ever we deem fit. A central staircase leading up with a few more rooms and a window in the back open area.

The second level, the top right, is more segmented rooms. Perhaps once rooms for study but now they are for.. different purposes. Something we will check tomorrow night.

The third, bottom left, is the circular room is one of danger. Each circular pillar (coloured in black) has traps within. Moving about this floor to investigate it isn’t safe. Those astute enough will realise its also a mirror image.

The fourth, bottom right is the end scene. This is where the party uncover one of the NPCs, Drake, and learn more about this tower and its purpose. If they can reach there in time. This floor is also completely dark, so I hope your party brought torches as in absence of all light, not even dark vision can pierce this veil.

Dresmandae’s Tower – created in Inkarnate

Thoughts

I hope the tower of Dresmandae is well received as it is a bit of fun. The complicated part comes with how we encounter the rooms and the NPCs on the various floors. However I believe the parties will work it out swiftly and we will be fine.

Thanks for joining me to admire the view from the tower’s different levels. A bit of a mixture of a puzzle and dungeon style encounter this week is brewing. In fact tomorrow night we fill in the missing pieces so don’t forget to come back to investigate what lies in wait. As the weekend approaches again I want to remind you to set aside some time for your tabletop. Continuation and persistence is what this hobby is vulnerable for, so maximise your output! And, as always, don’t forget to roll with advantage,

The Chaos Dresmandae Created

The chaos Dresmandae created is more than just a tower. It’s a profound rip in chaos that rips part the weave and sews destruction and creation in perfect unity. But this power was not well accepted by all. Tonight I want to touch on what the outcome of this magic is. In fact, the party will see first hand what happens to those who witness the birth of the tower. Solet’s sit back, grab a coffee and let’s roll into tonight’s adventure!

The Chaos Dresmandae Created

317WeTChDrCr

The tower was an enigma. Each room was a chaotic blend ofโ€ฆ stuff that didnโ€™t belong with the other rooms. As the party stalked the halls they came across more oddities and strange occurrences. They could hear the adventurers that came before them but they were just that moment too slow to catch up with them. Evidence of combat was strewn through some of the rooms with freshly slain creatures, things out of place for a tower, and destroyed weapons and armour littered the rooms.

Moving up another floor, they had lost count by now the party began to notice similarities between the floors. The same layout with a door in a different place in the wall. The walls, halls and rooms were reversed from one floor to the next and even the exact same piece of furniture, down to burn marks could be found. This tower was a chaotic blur of everything the party could, or could not expect to see in a tower.
As they climbed the stairs for the seventh time they came face to face with the other adventurers who were descending the steps. Both parties stopped and simply stared for a moment. Both groups were identical for all except for their equipment and weapons.

โ€œAnother apparition it looks likeโ€ one of the duplicates signed as they drew their weapon.

โ€œThis tower is the worst. I wish we never entered this place.โ€ another said as they fished out a crystal wrapped in coiled fine metals.

As the party began to talk to the other versions of them a moment passed where the others stopped again. โ€œWell thatโ€™s a first. I donโ€™t remember the others talking. Who are you and what are you doing in Dresmandaeโ€™s tower?โ€

Drake

Drake – Guardian of the Tower – created in nightcafe

As the guardian creation, Drake, stared through the dark room, eyes glued to the floor. It had been sitting there in the darkness in silence as it waited for its service to come to an end. However none had been found worthy to release it from its bindings and they had been freed of their pain and suffering. Those who made it to him that is. Stretching one of his tattered wings that its master had created for him he watched as the two contenders met in the hall. In fact he watched all the contenders analyse each other in various stages of alarm, disbelief and nonchalant-ness.

The tower had created everything that he needed to exist. Food, a servant to mend the decaying or fraying materials of his artificial body parts and even a book on the odd occasion. But so far in the centuries the tower had existed it had never chosen correctly. That was the nature of the chaos Dresmandae created Drake mused as he flicked his tail.

Thoughts

A guardian Drake, a augmented creature that watches over the tower of unbridled chaos energy waits for the party. The party, one of two sets of different time-lines and versions of the same people meeting is the very essence of chaos. I want the party to fully get into this adventure where they find a tower that seems to be eclectic to a purpose. A room containing random things, bits and pieces of information that may be useful in the next floor. Only if they realise it is useful that is.

The Tower, whilst not exactly sentient, is constantly seeking a way to create more chaos and only when the act of the party being chaotic can they progress to the next level, or its at a random chance.

Thanks for joining me tonight as I expanded a bit more on the tower of Dresmandae. This adventure is very action driven and when we look at what that means we have a hard decision to make. Well at least I do whilst I work out the details for Fridays update. Tomorrow I reveal the tower map that I have created so I hope to see you back for that. Also don’t forget to come back for this weekend as I have a bit of a different update planned for Saturday night. And lastly, as always, don’t forget to roll with advantage,

Cursed Reflections

Tuesday is here and this week is a bit different as we explore the cursed reflections of what the tower of Dresmandae brings us. It will be a bit of a short intro tonight as the next two nights set the scene for the tower. So let’s just settle in, grab a coffee roll into the adventure!

Cursed Reflections

317TuCuRe

As the party approached the tower, cautiously, they began to feel a sense of peace and calm resonating from the tower itself. The clearing, well what was now a clearing has the remnants of trees, rocks and even a slight hill burnt, shattered and otherwise flattened. The tower is large, easily two hundred feet each side. The front door, like the half-decaying stonework of the tower, is also half destroyed. The left side of the door is made of new solid blackwood, strong, sturdy and studded with steel rivets. However, the right side of the door has rotted away and the steel barding on the door is little more than rusted spikes.

The sound of footsteps and quiet talking resonate from beyond the door and the party canโ€™t help but feel a sense of uneasiness descend over them. The voice from within is familiar in a haunting manner. Looking beyond the door the party catch the whisper of cloth and a momentarily pause as they see a group of adventurers turn a corner at the end of a short hallway.

The clothing from the adventurers was tattered and ageing, but they sounded like they were in good spirits. The fabric was muted but the colouration was familiar. In fact a sense of wrongness was starting to rise as they saw the face of one of the adventurers. They swore it was one of the party if not a relative or family member. From this distance and the lighting in the tower it was hard to tell but it was almost a sure bet.

Thoughts

This week I want to turn a common concept on its head. For NPCs this week the Dungeon master has a simple job, describe the party members but slightly older with subtle tweaks. I would envision the parties paladin as having different coloured clothes, but perhaps a different shade as oppose to extreme contrasts. A Scar or mark on their face where there wasn’t one is another change I would make.

The concept I have for this week is simple – the NPCs are different versions of the PCs, either their current PC or a previous one. This makes it easy for us to describe as its how the Party describe their own PC. For us the change around of a few small details is easily but we don’t reveal it until they meet the NPCs.

Now I have mentioned that the tower of Dresmandae is a cursed, chaotic energy that was created by a mad wizard. But perhaps that’s not doing the tower justice. We will explore this more later this week.

Thanks for joining me for the second part of this weeks adventure. Tonight may have been a bit shorter but tomorrow will get into the juicy details behind this weeks encounter so don’t forget to come back. However it doesn’t stop there and as this weeks adventure grows make sure to come back daily. And lastly, don’t forget to roll with advantage,

Dresmandae’s Tower

Welcome to another Monday where this week our party experience a strange phenomenon when Dresmandae’s Tower appears in their path. This tower is more than what it seems and to gaze upon its chaotic walls is an omen most dire. But, let’s wait for the party to discover that. In fact let’s waste no time in getting into the adventure and roll on with the adventure.

Dresmandae’s Tower

317MoDrTo

All wizards will not know of the wizard called Dresmandae. The elders, teachers and books that contained mention of the mad wizard have been removed. The knowledge that this wizard had possessed, the spells he had created and the creation, his tower, have been the focus of many doomed expeditions. However, the tower he created is very real and many oracles see a tower as chaos, change, death and disaster. Most of these outcomes can be traced back to Dresmandaeโ€™s creation.

Dresmandae’s Tower – Created in nightcafe

The party moved across the even, well worn land as quickly and as well as they could expect. The animals transporting them had a good time, the weather was good and the animals and other hostile creatures were not around, or ignored them. In fact the day was too perfect. A sudden charge thrummed through the air like a pulse of the primal forces themselves. Birds for miles took to the sky and scattered and a sudden dark cloud began to form overhead as if the dark vapours rose from the ground itself.

Suddenly the animals the party rode with stopped and nervously stepped backwards just before the first lightning bolt struck the earth a mile ahead of them. The sound and power was so immense that the ground quaked. Before the party could string a sentence together a second bolt struck nearly the same place from a different part of the cloud. The arcane weavers in the party could sense, nearly taste the arcane magic in the air a moment before another bolt of lightning struck. This display of arcane chaos continued one hundred twenty seven times, each bolt of lightning strike hitting the same place. However as they bore witness to the chaotic energy they realised that each bolt of lightning was striking faster until the last two dozen times didnโ€™t pause before the next bolt, some occurring at the same time.

The Storms Aftermath

With the last bolt of lightning, a hush descended the world. The birds did not return and nearby a fox twitched from having fainted from the chaotic display. As the sun pierced through the clouds a monolithic tower rose above the trees above. Half its stone was both pristine, freshly carved and placed and worn and overrun by vines the other half of the vertical climb. The Tower was both terrifying and mesmerising to behold. However, the air was dense with arcane magic which seemed to cause strange phenomena to occur around them. Leaves fell upwards into the trees above, birds would briefly pause flight, before disappearing in a blur as time caught up with them.
The tower beckoned to them just as they had called the tower…

Thoughts

Now have I got something special for you all this week. A while back I had the concept of a disappearing tavern that would appear randomly. This is, well its not the same but I like to think this is the more advanced version of that adventure. Dresmandae’s Tower is an arcane wonder, something that I hope will never exist for reasons we will discover this week. The very presence of this arcane monolith is to bring chaos into the world. I planned this adventure, tonight about forty minutes ago, to be a test to the party for problem solving – like our Crelion Manor adventure – where the party have to work out what to do. But there is no death at the end of this after a certain number of days.

Oh no. They have all the time in the world to complete this adventure…

Thanks for visiting tonight and for joining me for another start of the week. This week we look into some strange NPCs, a monolithic twist, I’ll have a crack at some tower maps and we will see what the party encounter in the arcane walls. A lot to get through so make sure you come back each night to follow along. Don’t forget to look at when you can spend some time on your tabletop and as always, don’t forget to roll with advantage,

A moment to breathe

Tonight I wanted to take a moment to breathe as the last few months, weeks even have been fairly non-stop. As I committed myself to pushing out an adventure a week. Some weeks I managed to get through two but rarely have I missed one, in over a year now.

But tonight as I stare at the miniatures built, some with paint on them and the zine ready to be started. I need to take a moment to relax and put it off for tomorrow.

Not everything needs to be be treated like a tournament level movement phase. Not everything needs to be rushed in order to meet a deadline or an invisible barrier that you set yourself. Sometimes taking a moment to breathe is a good chance to assess the next steps and ensure that the next step is the right one.

The same goes for DMing.

As the beginning of a new campaign for me looms on the horizon, next weekend to be exact the excitement and trepidation begins to set in. However, being in this gig for as long as I have the excitement builds and the pressure that I set on myself drives me. Taking a moment to breathe to look at the adventure, or series of them, that I have planned can sometimes be enough.

Now, I have thought of session pre-zero, session zero and the overall plot, secondary hook and twists in the main story. But there is a lot to be done before I can say that the campaign is ready and fit to be consumed. However, I know my ruleset and I know my style. I have a clear guide document that the players can read to understand how I run the game. Having created a few homebrew creatures, magical items and I roughly know the frequency in which to encounter these things.

I have created a semi-Lovecraft inspired campaign where the players can flit between the adventures and the system shouldn’t punish those who can only make it every so often. However I have contingencies in place and a large potential for new players joining mid-adventure. This shouldn’t be an issue.

Having these scheduled, or impromptu moments to breathe and reset priorities helps. It helps me and I can guarantee for the DMs who push so much emphasis on getting it right for their players, our players, it makes it easier. Learn your craft, study what you want out of your session like I have and I can ensure that these nerves will pass.

However

These moments to pause should help us focus on what we want, like I have made tonight about what I want to focus on. I have decided to tweak the frequency of a few types of encounters or adventures and in doing so I hope to make them much more exciting. Having two veteran players joining me, potentially a third, and a few new ones. I need to balance the base mechanics with what I believe will give my party the biggest sense of amazement and enjoyment.

I always plan to thrill my party, never setting myself a lower target that people asking for the next session. This excitement and enthusiasm drives and maintains my motivation for the craft. I am excited for this new campaign, and a new era of my Tabletop as I shelve one army to pay another, and the future guides me onwards.

So as a closing note I want to encourage you to take a moment to stop and take a moment to breathe. Like what I did, take a moment to think and considers what’s best for you. And, like most posts, I want to remind you that tomorrow is another day, another week really, and so I hope to spend my day off wisely. Creating my end of week Zine for the City of Temptations Zine as well as a new adventure, something a bit out of sequence but fitting for what lies ahead of me this week.

And finally, I wish to encourage you to get back to your tabletop. I managed to even sneak in a game of Wingspan this weekend which was a rare delight. And finally, I hope you don’t forget to roll with advantage,

Nobles of Excess

For this weekends day of extras, Saturday, I wanted to bring something that can add to this adventure, and future ones. The nobles of excess don’t have to be greedy, selfish or depraved they can merely be ones who wish or need to socialise. However that doesn’t mean that they are all innocent. Tonight I bring more NPCs to the tabletop! So to ensure that we can get to the good stuff let’s grab a coffee roll into the adventure!

Nobles of Excess

316SaNoOEx

The idea with tonight is to create a few NPCs that could be innkeepers, merchants or even nobles. These Nobles of Excess could star of feature in this weeks adventure as an unwilling informant, a speed bump or even just a distraction.

William Dossmon

William Dossmon – Created in Artbreeder

Now William is an interesting man. Remarkably short, he is about the height of a dwarf but the likeliness stops there. Feisty, sharp witted and bold Will is know for getting into trouble, but having to use his fathers status at getting out. However of late he has been more dignified, respectable and seems to be well liked with the other young-adults of wealth.

Joan Kergel

Joan Kergle – created in Artbreeder

A cheerful sight, Joan moves from Inn to Tavern to street corner to sing and delight passers by with her music. A young halfling lass she is talented and always ready for another song to sing to. Despite the life of a bard Joan’s looks and talents gets her invited to many parties. In fact, she has grown to be soo well liked in the city that the higher class houses have begun bidding wards for her presence. Joan doesn’t care for any of this and would prefer to play her songs in a tavern surrounded by the common folk.

Casey Salvador

Casey Salvador – Created in Artbreeder

The issue with Casey is that she is an enigma. She is new to the city, travels around with her father who is rarely seen but wealthy enough to be known by everyone and after a short time she moves on. In fact she hasn’t been in the city all that long but her father is already planning the next trip to head off to the next city.

Nick Skarbin

Nick Skarbin – Created in Artbreeder

A wealthy merchant who caters for the noble houses, and in doing so has become one himself. Well to some degree. However hard Nick has worked he is always looking for the next big thing that will break the cycle of his work-live cycle.

Thoughts

Although I wanted to give as much information as possible for these NPCs in order to keep them generic enough to fulfil what ever role I had to dial it back a bit. I think this is what can make my NPCs more valuable. When I consciously hold back to hand the reigns over to the DM who will use them to take the framework, to take the inspiration and to evolve from what I create.

Thanks for joining me to meet the additional NPCs that could expand our roster in this weeks adventure. Don’t forget to come back tomorrow for the final parts of this adventure, and lastly, don’t forget to roll with advantage,

Play Room of the Depraved

Welcome to another Thursday night where I want to quickly reveal the play room of the depraved. This week we have an adventure that revolves around finding out the source of the ongoing corruption and depravity before confronting it, two instigators of temptation. Did I mention they are in here two? Well, its sure to be a thrilling adventure. So to reveal what we have planned, let’s roll into tonight’s adventure!

Play Room of the Depraved

316ThPlRoOTDe

A nice simple room, windows blocked out by wall coverings either side of a large plush couch. Food and alcohol on the centre table define what this room is for and elude to the parties that went on in here. The room has a heady musk of narcotics and a dank smell to it that is intoxicating to the senses.

“Throne Room” – Small – created in Inkarnate

Tempters of Brightkeep

The two tempters of Brightkeep are influencers amongst the lords and ladies of the city. They bring with them unending parties, celebrations and exotic temptations that have swayed even the most devout and rigid.

Their true forms are yet to be revealed, but they seem to take great delight and pleasure in watching the city devolve into depravity.

Temptress of Brightkeep – created in nightcafe
Tempter of Brightkeep – created in Artbreeder

Thoughts

The tempters of Brightkeep are, ready for the reveal, a succubus and an incubus. I think its succubi and incubi but its quite a late night. However, regardless of proper pronouns for these two they are the instigators of temptation and depravity within Brightkeep and we have them in our sights now.

But, even with them being known for what they are and identified as such – will we be able to deal with them?

Thanks for joining me for a glimpse at two more NPCs, the antagonists, in this weeks adventure. Tomorrow night we look at the Statblocks before this weekend we wrap up another adventure. Don’t forget to come back for the last few days as they promise to be full of fun! Also don’t forget to come back this weekend for the end of week writeup and inspiration for your own tabletop. And, as always, don’t forget to roll with advantage,

Overwhelming Collaboration

Tonight Overwhelming Collaboration graces this adventure this Wednesday as we look at the devious, genius minds behind the overthrowing of the city of Brightkeep. This unholy, unnatural union of powerful individuals has marked Brightkeep as their play thing, a city full of people to corrupt and enslave. But, what makes this union of individuals so overwhelming? I guess we best read on and find out tonight. So let’s sit back, grab a coffee and let’s roll into tonight’s adventure!

Overwhelming Collaboration

316WeOwCo

The sounds of the banquet were progressing to the grand finale of the evening and the cacophony was growing to a near deafening chorus of wails of lust, gluttony and excess. Looking across the manor’s hall the sights, smells and sounds were even overwhelming the guests of honour. In fact they wouldn’t have it any other way.

This city, once filled with the devout and pious was now theirs. The deprave, the thrill of those giving into their desires and throwing conscious consideration for modesty away was ripe for the taking. As the two nobles looked across the table as the party departed elsewhere they smiled at the heady scent of the taboo and the temptations that this place offered. It was good to be here in person after twisting the thoughts of the pure into perversion for so long.

The harder the person to corrupt the sweeter their fall.

Dinner guests

Sitting at the table and watching the nobles leave for another party Lemren looked at her meal and had a crawling feeling of doubt. This isn’t exactly what she thought it would be like, attending these parties, these celebrations of wealth and opulence. She watched as her parents stumbled out, drunk from the wine and thrill of their relinquishment of control. In fact when her parents were behind those heavy stone doors they were different people. Gone was the two people who cared about this city and the progress it was making. Those people were left at the door with the hastily abandoned shoes.

Sighing she stood and walked towards the door, walking amongst the people and sights and smells of the city in full swing of its night market would do her well. However as he left the two advisers, two people who had come to the city a few years back stood close together. As she strode across the room they watched her and whispered, smiling at her but the words they were muttering didn’t match the looks on their faces. Let alone was it the common tongue. Those two gave her a bad feeling and she wished her parents would listen to her concern.

The night market

Walking down the street she sighed in relief. This is where she felt like she belonged. The people selling their wares, produce and sometimes their services. Good people living their best lives and basking in the wealth that the city had accumulated over the years. She watched as gold was exchanged for an item of clothing, then exchanged for food to sustain the vendor. Then from food it the gold travelled to a merchant selling jewellery who exchanged that gold for company on the brisk night.

The city was alive with commerce. However, as she walked and marvelled at this she also noticed the darker side of it. A cage of people were being auctioned off, slaves, soon to be maids and house servants. Probably the outcome of a war of conflict up north. Pickpockets stole the purse of working folk and noblemen alike. Thugs and thieves stole from tables and ran off with the produce of honest folk. The City guards did nothing about it and the cycle of turning a blind eye to corruption and the growing depravity of the city continued.

โ€œJust like my parentsโ€ she pondered out loud, moments before she bumped into someone clad in adventuring gear. The Vessel contains a drink spilling to the floor. โ€œSorry, I was lost in my thoughts,โ€ she said with an embarrassed smile and a curtsey. The adventurer smiled as their party, friendly folk, joined their companion. โ€œCan I offer you a drink or meal as I seem to have caused you to lose yours?โ€

Thoughts

The path to redemption starts with a single act. And we have many ways to that path available to us this week. I like to think that it doesn’t have to be Lemren who initiates the contact, it could be a tip-off from the shadow to point the party in the right direction. Or someone visiting the temple for prayer. I personally like the later, but this week is pretty open to how we get to the end goal. But more on that tomorrow.

Thanks for joining me tonight. As we look into the corruption that is prevalent in Brightkeep we also can stumble across sparks of the old faith, of justice. Don’t forget to come back tomorrow was we weave this adventure a bit tighter. I have a few plans up my sleeve for this adventure and this weekend we may have a few surprises. So don’t forget to come back for that and, as always, don’t forget to roll with advantage,

The Depraved and the Devout

Tuesday is here and it brings us some of the depraved and the devout of Brightkeep. As the party investigate what has befallen Brightkeep and the utter loss that Brother Amed Kazzadim has exposed they will meet many more NPCs. Tonight is just a suggested few, but this is a NPC heavy adventure where there are a few key people who revolve around the scene. But that’s for another night. So to ensure that we can get to the good stuff let’s grab a coffee roll into the adventure!

The Depraved and the Devout

316TuTDeATDe

The great thing about this weeks adventure is that its NPC heavy, but any NPC can do. The idea behind this is that all NPCs can be a suspect but only a few of them are actually the cause of the complete acquiescence that has encaptivated the city.

Brother Amed Kazzadim

Brother Amed Kazzadim – Created in Artbreeder

Amed Kazzadim is one of the watchers, the legendary paladins of Helm that call the city of Brightkeep home. Amed and his loyal assistants, the shadows, have been travelling and quelling corruption and injustice for over a decade. But recently they felt as though Helm’s grace was waning and they hurried home to Brightkeep to investigate what the cause could be. Upon arriving they found the city in different states of depravity.

Many of the populace had given into opulence, some just seeking wealth and delicacies but there was others where their deprave nature was deeper. The city guards, once devout followers of Helms justice had also turned a blind eye and many of the faces present were new.

Something was corrupt in the city and Amed sought out his orders home, the temple to Helm, to find that it had been cleared and defaced for some time. Within the temple he also noticed some adventurers, foreigners to the city who he could feel was being guided by justice. Perhaps they could be devout allies in his cause to save this city?

Henry Bassel

Henry Bassel – Created in Artbreeder

A young son of a wealthy merchant Henry spent most of his life learning to work hard in order to get what he wanted. However the items his fathers shop sold started to become the most popular item in Brightkeep. Soon his father had retired and moved out of the city to enjoy his riches quietly and Henry inherited the highly lucrative business.

Now a young man he has employees who run the shop and he is free to spend his wealth how he see’s fit. Attending parties, spending money on clothes, food, drink and women he is a man of luxury now and is regularly invited to join the elites of the city. However his focus on business keeps him from attending those gatherings of utter debauchery and indulgence. He has a business to run after all and despite the constant offers his fathers words echo in his mind.

“Work smarter. Appearance is everything. If people see you as something valuable, something indispensable so you will live in comfort with want for none.”

Sister Kate Blanwell

Sister Kate Blanwell – Created in Artbreeder

One of the shadows of Helm, Sister Kate Blanwell was one of the paladins who didn’t manage evoke the justice that Helm offers provides. Instead she was offered a different path in which to serve helm and mete out justice. A shadow is the name of those who follow the Paladins, operate from the shadows to see the world for what it is.

Kate is adept at reading people and understanding the different shades of right and wrong. Able to detect a lie or motives she determines the judgment that Helm should cast before Amed and the other Paladins deal it. In fact together with Amed, Kate has been the critical point in almost all missions the paladin has been on. Perhaps Helms grace and power that the paladins can evoke has eluded her because of the keenness of her sense of right and justice. In fact, perhaps she is the closest to helm out of all the order.

Lemren DeChantel

Lemren DeChantel – Created in Artbreeder

Being the daughter of the lord of Brightkeep Lemren was born to near-nobility. Over the past year she has gradually stepped up to run the city and make decisions whilst her parents become more focused on reaping the benefits of what they have earnt. Headstrong and determined Lemren is showing traits of a good Lord of the city. However, who attentions turn to the parties, displays of wealth and other distractions that her parents have fallen to.

Regardless of her natural proficiency with running a city she bores of the day to day chores. In fact even she has begun to slowly find ways to slip away from important meetings to flitter amongst the people on the streets and enjoy the life that her parents power has befitted her.

Thoughts

This week has collection of those offered depravity, those seeking devotion and those who are seeking one, both or neither. As I mention this week any NPC can fit into this adventure and tomorrow we may introduce another one, or few, that will act as our antagonists this week.

Thanks for joining me to get a glimpse of The Depraved and the Devout. The rest of the week we will expand upon this adventure with hopefully a striking conclusion at the end. But if I have tempted you to come back tomorrow I will gladly welcome you to the twist of this week. But don’t forget that this weeks adventure grows with each day so make sure to come back daily. And lastly, don’t forget to roll with advantage,

Complete Acquiescence

Welcome to another Monday where this week we give into Complete Acquiescence and visit the City of Brightkeep. Perhaps I have been spending too much time building my Slaanesh forces but this week, using a random encounter generator, this weeks adventure slipped into my mind. From a single creature the story was born like a lightning bolt through my mind. And now I am here to share with you the tale of Brightkeep and how a party of adventurers attempted to liberate it from overwhelming odds. So to get into the adventure we better accept out fate, relinquish foolish ties and roll on with the adventure.

Complete Acquiescence

316MoCoAc

Brightkeep Manor hall – Created in nightcafe

The city of Brightkeep was magnificent. A city that was built around the temple to Helm, the deity of protection, is a many layered city that has enjoyed being protected by the knights of Helm known as the Watchers. The people appeared to be a wealthy lot as they strode around the markets in fine clothes. Many bought richly coloured vibrant fabrics, jewellery or even exotic foods.

The party headed towards the centre of the town, the market place was too chaotic and busy and there was quite a lot to see in this city. Many of the guards laughed, drank and indulged in the delights of the city as much as the rich patrons. In fact on multiple occasions the party witnessed a theft, pickpockets or something more dire where the guards look almost displeased to give chase of the thieves.

After a few minutes of walking the party noticed that a single, tall robed man had been walking behind them for quite some time. His boots and long white tabard were dirty, filthy with mud and other stains, some of which looked like blood. The clink of mail could be heard over the din from the other inhabitants from this city as the man strode with purpose towards the party.

Friend or foe

They could feel the power radiating from this man, a holy knight, one of the Watchers. To bring upon the gaze of the watchers was to incite the judgement and potential wrath of Helm and this man embodied the feeling of judgement. As they hastened their pace, not wanting to tangle with the man, their twists and turns down alleys only seemed to increase the speed of which the man continued his pursuit. But there was something more. Two shadows, men and women in darkened robes that had the same markings of the watcher, flanked him. The three of them gained ground on the party.

Turning a last corner they came across a large, old door. The stones were worn, besmirched with grime and dirt and the door looked as if there had once been a lock. Now removed forcefully the door provided the party a way out and away from the watchers who were gaining ground quickly. The pink of mail and hurried, yet softened footfalls of the shadows were moments away. Pushing through the door they closed it behind them and let their eyes adjust to the gloom.

The ruined Temple

They were in a large, magnificent building. Large columns of smooth stone held the roof up. The floor was littered with pews and tables, all of which were pushed over, broken or otherwise defiled. Suddenly the door behind them creaked before it was ripped from its hinges. The water and shadows trickled into the room and stood there in shock.

“What has happened to the temple of Helm…” one of the shadows, a woman, asked. “Brother Amed, this would explain the presence we felt. The order of Helm, the watchers. They have gone. the city lies unprotected…”

The large warrior just stood there looking around, his eyes glancing over the party before he strode to a beheaded statue to Helm and knelt. The murmur of prayer echoed dimly from the walls.

Thoughts

Now I haven’t touched on the creature that has triggered this adventure but the fall of a major, the major power in a city is never good. In fact that is what this week is about. I wanted to run the party through the investigation of the issues in the city. I believe that finding the root cause and silencing it will make this adventure something to remember and I cant wait for the party to experience it.

Thanks for visiting tonight and looking at a glimpse of the complete acquiescence I have planned. However, tonight is just the start so you best come back each day this week as we expand this weeks adventure. Don’t forget that to check out my zines if you like what I do and need a quick adventure. In fact, Wolf Moon Rising is my latest one and would flow in nicely into this adventure, so I would check that one out next.

I also must remind you to book some time for your tabletop. It’s important to maintain a focus on our hobbies even if its for a few hours. And as always, don’t forget to roll with advantage,
